Hello Mary

Thank you for correcting the information :)

Who are you related to in the cemetery? The Talmadges by any chance?

I am on a hunt for information on Samuel Talmadge's wife Jane Hill (Mahala is a sister to Samuel) and Mahala's mother Sarah Lyon. Both seem to have dropped out of a tree (he-he) and have no parents to speak of.

The paternal side of my tree is Youmans so I have had my work cut out for me !!

Hope you are enjoying your day

Find A Grave#90502101, This is my husbands 2xGAunty and I was wondering if you know anything about the Ramsay family? Is the spelling Ramsey or Ramsay? Also Elizabeth's husband Robert Ramsay is to be buried with her in the same he listed in your records? I also show her DOB as 1835 and not the 1845 do your records show this on the grave stone? Thanks for any help you can give me and if you want to transfer her I'd love to keep her memorial. I finally found her father in Canada and have added his memorial. Aloha, Wendy Fielding

Hi Mary, I'll have to find out if that name is in that part of the cemetery again. I have no idea how come it shows Father and when you click on it it brings up a nellie scott. I haven't been taking pictures in a while sence last year in that cemetery . But that has me stumped. I'll try to get to it in the next few days. DeLyle

Mary, I really appreciate your persistence in getting the photos of the Sammons' grave marker. In response to your question about Chloe's date of birth, I would accept your transcription from the stone although it might also be Apr 28. However, I think the date on the stone is erroneous. Virtually all her descendants place the date as Apr 19, 1815. That date makes sense since her parents married in Feb 1814. If you look at the the census records, in particular 1850, 1860 & 1870, the 1815 date is in agreement with her declaration of age. Chloe was a distant Aunt so I never had access to that part of the family Bible. Actually, I am totally impressed that you could make out the Chloe part!! As you know sometimes those grave stones are placed quite a bit later after the person had died and the accuracy of descendant's memory gets corrupted with time. Thanks again for your help.

In regards to Frank Smith's photo you took. His obit says he is in the St Francis cemetery, Petoskey, Michigan. I see his memorial is in Cross Village. Am wondering if you remember which cemetery you took the photo at.

Thank you,

Marybath Morton
Thanks so much for sending the birth information on Marybath Morton. I'll gladly make the edit to the memorial but would be very grateful for a source so that I can record it in my own database. I've attempted several times this morning to seach at NEHGS and their system is acting up so I can't get into the birth records for MA.

Petoskey History 1852-2002
RE: Ben Bain
Hi, Mary. Thanks for the reply. After I wrote you about Ben, I was able to find information on the grandson Glen (and a few others) that nicely brings in the Bain connection to Bremmeyr-Bain Hardware Store (a big part of Petoskey for so many years. (I linked everyone that wasn’t already linked.) In my on going research I may come across biographical information on Ben in a newspaper article or elsewhere. If I do, I will be sure to send it to you. Hope you are having a great spring time. M.S.
