Picture of Family on Ethel Gridley Memorial
Hi Martha,

Nice to know someone still has some historical records and pics around! Thanks for all the hard work in the Southern Michigan area!

I just wanted you to know that Ethel King Gridley, wife of Clinton Gridley, of Homer, Michigan was a daughter of George H King and Bertha Mills King, and sister to my great grandmother... but somehow accidentally you posted a picture of the McKindley-Nutting family. The info on the memorial was previously erroneously marked with this family as well.... I would be happy to show you the records if you want to see them.

Thanks again... and keep up the good work!

J Marie
Laurel A Holcomb
George Swinerton is my great uncle. So I am curious as to why he left his son to be raised by his wife's parents? Uncle George came to Cleveland, Ohio soon after Laurel died and I don't think he ever went back to Michigan. Do you know anything about this? Do you know why their son Paul changed his name from Swinerton to Holcomb? Did Laurel's parents adopt him as their son?

Thank you Martha for the notes you left in the flower section. It was very sad to learn. If alright with you I will add it to his profile in my Wolcott tree. It is a public tree and I will credit you with your member number.
Thanks for all you do for everyone to find their relatives and adding nice information to the memorial.

Nathan C Putnam 1842-1887
Martha, thank you for posting the Civil War photo of Nathan Curtis Putnam, Rice Cemetery, Cone, Michigan. His memorial # is 80607539. Nathan's father was John C Putnam who died 26 Jan 1904. If you are responsible for the bio on John C Putnam, we thank you for that as well. John C was my friend's 2nd great grandfather. John and his first wife, Lydia, had a daughter Libbie Putnam who was born in 1854 and raised in Milan by her aunt Harriet Putnam Wilcox (wife of Freeman Wilcox). Now that we have found Libbie's death certificate, we are attempting to tie the entire Putnam family together on the findagrave website. On the link to John's second wife, Martha Frazier, there is a comment that the obituary of her daughter Sarah Frazier, born about the same time as Lizzie Putnam, came to Milan when her mother married John. We were wondering if you have a copy of Sarah's obituary or know where we might be able to get a copy. We would like to know when Sarah died, if she stayed in Milan and her married name.

Again, thank you for the work you do. We are very appreciative.

John E. McKindley #147516152
I have walked every inch of the Evergreen Cemetery at Osakis in Douglas County while inputting gps information for every known gravestone..
There is no stone or any indication that John E. McKindley is buried at that cemetery. Plus, as you can see below, the death occurred in Todd County, Gordon Township.
Wouldn't it be more likely that he was buried closer to that area? The Osakis, Douglas County Evergreen cemetery is too far out of the way. Most people buried there were from Osakis township or townsite, in Douglas County.
Do a search for McKindley in Minnesota and there are other cemeteries with McKindleys in them that seem more likely, in Todd County. Even in Gordon Township.
I should be possible to find an obituary for him, or to get his death certificate for $13 or so from the Todd County courthouse. It might say the cemetery.

Death certificate index information:

John Ellis Mckindley
Minnesota Deaths and Burials
Name John Ellis Mckindley
Gender Male
Death Date 20 Jul 1923
Death Place Gordon, Todd, Minnesota
Age 78
Birth Date 1845
Marital Status Married
Spouse's Name Elizabeth Kathryn Mckindley
Father's Name Wm. Mckindley
Mother's Name Mary Ellis

Done. Plus a couple links and middle name. Also, I have given you credit on the two bios you have sent me to add. I am not sure what Find A Grave's stance is on adding name and member number credits to bios but, I would think most people would enjoy having the credit given. If you wish not to have your name and member # posted there, let me know and I will remove them. Take Care...Scot

The baseball schedule changed and now there's a game at 1 tomorrow. I'll try to get to the library early and get the four obits for you. I should be able to scan them and send them directly to your e-mail from the (really cool, brand new) microfilm reader. If I can't do it tomorrow, there's a break in the schedule on Thursday. It's a varsity Spring Break tournament and the times and locations can change at the drop of a hat, but I should get it done this week.

RE: Fred Papsdorf FIG # 93968623
Hi Martha-

I believe there are only four Papsdorf's buried at Clinton Grove. All four of them had obits published in the Macomb Daily. I can't get to the library until Tuesday at best, but I'll look up the obits and let you know how, and if, they all connect. Christine and Frederick are connected (buried next to one another in Section D, Lot 38); and Henry T. and Starr J. are connected (share a stone in Section I). There is also a Mildred M.(Papsdorf) Cadorette in Section I, Papsdorf Lot, her age isn't right to be Henry & Starr's daughter and I don't see her in the library obituary index, nor do I see her on the Macomb County Death Records Index.

I'll find what I can find and will let you know.

OK. I transferred your mother's memorial to you.

I did, though, delete the memorials I had for your grandparents as yours were much better. Find A Grave does not allow memorials to be reused, and I have no wish to get in trouble with them. Sorry.
