|Helen||RE: Harley Deal|
Go to the memorial page I maintain on him, there is a newspaper article and an image of those shoes. I am not a relation so would happily transfer management to any Deal family members who would like to have it under their management. Helen

I forgot to ask if you are also related to Harvey Deal? I remember him while growing up in Dickson and his enormous shoes being on display at Nicks Hardware store on Main Street.

|Helen||RE: Deal Road, Mark Garton Cemetery|
How awesome that you are a Deal and Garton descendant! I will send a message to the person who is researching his ancestor in this cemetery and get the name to you. Thanks for the hint on how to look at the inventory of all burials in the Mark Garton Cemetery, I recall that this person was listed on either an old TN death certificate or from data passed on through the family history as being buried there, cannot recall the specifics except that he is from an old, established family who lived in Charlotte at one time. Have a great evening! Helen

|Helen||RE: Chart for Mark Garton|
Well, you did an awesome job on that 'Tree of Life', it really honors your ancestors. No, I am not a Garton descendant, though have looked through that particular cemetery for an individual for another contributor who lives out of state. (Cannot recall the name right now but he is pretty sure his GGG-Grandfather is buried there). There is a request for a headstone image from that cemetery and I was just scrolling through to see who all was being honored and I saw your Garton pages. I actually live not too far from the site, Deal Rd takes me to the Hwy 96 then to the interstate. Love the scenery for the farm it rests in. Helen

I was looking over the various memorials you had established for your Garton ancestors, wow! Lots of siblings and children to many of them! That colorful chart on Mark Garton, Sr's page caught my eye, is this something that you created? Very well done! Helen

|Deanna Koefoed Hanlin||Thanks|
I am working on Ancestry.com to build a family tree for my son's. Their grandfather is George Peel Hanlin (grandson of William Crawford Hanlin). As time permits I will add what I can to this site also.

Thanks for the info on John F and Ruby. I love your website, too.
I am related distantly to Ruby Mai Garton Deal via her uncle Dickson, who is my greatgrandfather.
I appreciate all your work for "the cause"!!

Thank you for submitting a photo of the obituary for my great-great grandfather. I have another obituary, but I have to crop before I post it. Meantime, I posted a transcription of the clipping.

Hello, Chris. The above lady is the wife of William Crawford Hanlin (# 105815057); and her mother (# 20085334) is our great grand aunt. I'd like to create a memorial for her, if you know whether she is buried in Grace Hill (Birmingham) cemetery for certain, as her Alabama death and burial index shows. Would you have knowledge of that? I would appreciate it.

Since you'd posted a photo of and an interesting article about this gentleman, thought I'd mention having posted a photo of his tombstone at Mt Olivet and submitted an edit to the memorial manager saying that he is buried in Section 9.

Thanks for the transfer. It's actually my husband's line. Callie Garton Parker is his great grandmother, through Zenna then Geraldine.
Callie and her husband (whom she always called Billy) were actually first cousins, once removed, so I guess the connection is really both lines.
Callie's father was Mark Garton. Mark had a sister -- Martha Garton --- who married James Thomas Herbison. MGH and JTH had a daughter, Elizabeth, who was WJ Parker's mother.
What's your connection to Callie?

Hey - that would be great, thanks. Wasn't sure if you are a relative since you talked about your grandmother knowing her.

No thanks. I am transcribing the death record for Clark Co., IN 1882-1971. I am up to 1905 and I am adding names to cemeteries as I go. But thanks for the offer.
