Jane Auld photo request
Hi Connie,
I claimed the photo request you made for Jane Auld.

Unfortunately there is no headstone for her and have reported the same on the site. You also asked in your request for any Chase family headstones in the area of Jane's grave. There are several. Many are associated with Dobbs. In the lot adjacent to the one containing Jane's grave is a large granite obelisk with the Chase name. Inscribed upon it are the following:
Ann 1806-1884
Charles 1803-1878
Jane A. Dobbs (daughter of Charles and Ann Chase) 1885-1891
Frank C. Dobbs 1885-1927

Each of these also has an individual small marker indicating the location of that person's grave.

Below are the Chase names listed in the cemetery index. There are discrepancies between the cemetery index, and the list of known headstones.
Chase,Ann
Chase,Baby
Chase,Charles
Chase,Infant of John
Chase,Ira A.
Chase,John I.
Chase,Leana
Chase,Lewis A.
Chase,Mrs. A.B.
Chase,Sarah

As I said, there are usually a few discrepancies between these two resources. I always go to the lot and look for the requested headstone because of this possibility. The LCGS headstone index has been the most reliable. If you use the Evergreen Index, there is a Bk/Pge column which indicates the original Sexton's book and page where the original records were kept. I have determined the date ranges per page for Book 1, if you are interested in knowing any info you might find. Using this information, I determined that Jane's approximate date of burial was between December 23, 1890 and February 28th, 1891. I can get you the exact date at the cemetery office if you wish.

Regards,
Brad Campbell
