You have documented a John Smith at this cemetery, there is also a John Raymond Smith at this cemetery and I am wondering if this is the same person. In case of duplication, I have not put this name into the Nanaimo Cemetery. I have been unable to find John Raymond Smith in the Archives. If you feel this is the same person please add the name Raymond, if you feel this is not the same person, please add it to the Nanaimo Cemetery. I have no further information on John Raymond Smith.

Thanks, Amanda

Mine Disasters
Hi Lois,
I see that you've documented all the 3 May 1887 mine fatalities. I am slowly working my way through the list and photographing the headstones that still exist. I am embarking on a project to document the miners who died in other disasters from 1877 onwards. I was wondering how you went about getting the Range/Plot information - did you go down to city hall? Thanks,

RE: Henry Bolton headstone
You're welcome - not sure if it's a relative and if you want some close ups of the dates?

Hello Lois, I am documenting the Ladysmith Cemetery and have so far been able to do about 600, I'm doing it very methodically, and should be complete some time next Spring.

I see that you have a couple of entries for STOVE. I wonder if you can tell me how yours or mine should be connected. I could, perhaps, do like I am with all of my entries, look them up in Vital Stats, but thought it much easier to get in touch with you to ensure they are done correctly.

The Doctor !!
Hi, after much eye squinting, heavy duty lights, magnifying glass, and a bit of lip biting, I finally thought - why not try google using various spellings, but guess what, I had it right, when I was sure I didn't - I mean, honestly, so I thought I must let you know the Doctor's name is A.E. Praiger.

Nanaimo Mine Disaster 1887
Hi Again, I see that you have placed 96 of the miners in your virtual cemetery, so does that mean that you were not able to place the other 58 miners - were they not buried in the Nanaimo Municipal Cemetery?

Nanaimo Mine Disaster
Hi again - Taking a better look, I see that you have documented those who were buried in Nanaimo Cemetery, and the ones you have not been able to place you have said no cemetery.

May I pass along any personal information I find for those you have documented in the Nanaimo Cemetery via Find A Grave?

I think I know where the others are buried - when I am complete with that search, may I be in touch with you to update the no grave?

Nanaimo Mine Disaster
Hi, I see that you have a Virtual Cemetery for the 1887 mine explosion.

My question is, have you placed these men in what cemetery they were buried? I am in the midst of pulling up their death certificates, sometimes marriage certificates, sometimes baptism certificates for their children, etc. I want to find the exact cemetery each miner was buried in, and document the burial or add to the biography of the ones already documented. I just want to connect if possible, and add the personal sides to these young men, boys and elderly men.

My email is

I'm looking forward to your reply,

RE: Eliza Jane Hawthorne Crooks
Thank you for adding flowers to their sites. And welcome for the parents sites. If you want any information added to either John's or Wilma's sites, let me know. Happy to do it. I looked for Wilma for about 2 years and then all of a sudden, she appeared on the site. Someone was looking down I think. Take care. Andi

Crooks, John H and Wilma
Hello Lois, I had to do some changes on the site for John and Wilma Crooks. There were duplicate records. So I will be deleting the ones you posted a "flower" on and thought you would like to post flowers on the two sites that will remain for them. Their correct numbers are:

Wilma's 88149864
John's is 88149853

I am distantly related to them so I guess we are connected?

I'll be deleting the two I added that you had posted on.

I hope this helps keep your connection to their sites.

Take care. Andi - klassikat

Kate Oliver
Lois, I regret to inform you that there is no longer a headstone for Kate Oliver. However, I have a photo of the space where the headstone should be, and I have a copy of both the cemetery map as well as a copy of the lot map, indicating where the headstone should be if you want it. I can either mail or e-mail you the maps. Please PM me if you want them.

Thanks so much for the heads up. She was my husband's grandfather's second wife so we are delighted to link her up to her father. Sadly we have never seen a photo of her.

Be safe,

GWL Allen Photo
Can you tell me more about the photo of GWL Allen? I've been researching GWL and his family for several years and this is the first photo I've seen of him. Do you have any other photos of GWL or his family members?

Thanks, Phil

RE: Carrie Wareham headstone photo
Glad you liked it. It's a beautiful cemetery. That's where we will be buried. She didn't appear to be buried with anyone else. Just a single grave. If there are any other landmarks in Helena you want a pic of or if you can pull her address and want a pic of where she lived, let us know. It's a small town. Or to see pics, go to my husbands website and check out Montana places.
