Joseph Coleman Bryant
I wanted to inquire as to how you got your information for Joseph Coleman Bryant that you wrote on his find a grave listing. He is my Great Grandpa's dad as far as I can tell. I am working on my Bryant line now. My grandpa is Finis Ray Bryant. Any information is very much appreciated.

Thank you for adding a memorial for Mr. Walker. Do you have any information that his wife Laura Abbott was buried there as well? She died in 1891.

I see you posted his bio to the McGavock Confederate Cemetry site. This is definate our family line but
I do not find he was in the 55th Alabama Infantry.

Can you help me to understand? My M-I-L was Jessie Herring Miller. Part of the Walker family. She believed he died in Athens and was buried there.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

The picture that you posted for the grave of Silas Crosby #25715125, buried in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Baxley, Appling County, Georgia is not the correct photo for this burial. I have posted the correct picture. Not sure where the grave you have a photo of is at. Thanks!

Pleasant Grove Cemetery Heard County, GA
Hi Kay, I sent you the following email in 2012 and never heard back from you. I was going through some old emails and found it and decided to send it to you again.

Hi Kay,

I don't know if you remember me or not but we had a discussion in May 2012 about your Herndons buried in Heard County, GA and whether or not my Herndons from Coweta County, GA were kin or not.

I have a cousin who lives in Troop County, GA and she has been visiting a lot of cemeteries in Heard County taking photos. She asked me about the Herndons for which you have created memorials on find-a-grave in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Heard County. I looked in the Heard County, GA cemetery book and there are only 7 tombstones in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, all either Cook or Banks. In fact, there are no Herndons listed in the Heard County, Ga cemetery book. Some one has posted a photo of the cemetery and it shows very few graves there. If you look at this cemetery photo for the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Heard County, you will see that it looks totally different from the photos you have posted as being in this cemetery.

I did some further research and I think all the people you have posted in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Heard County are actually in Old Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Appling County, GA. Check out these two memorials:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GScid=36323&GRid=79871126&

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GScid=36042&GRid=25716046&

And it makes since that they would be buried in Appling Couny since that is where they died.

Please take a look at this and let me know what you think.

Greetings,

Thank you for taking the time to write me. Unfortunately, as Marvin Hubbard's memorial is listed as famous, I do not have editing control of it. Only a findagrave administrator can update a famous memorial.

My apologies and best wishes,
Gerald :)

RE: Lucinda Harris Holliday, Gilland cemetery
Hi Kay,

Thank you so much for the information about the cemetery. It is such a shame that most of the cemetery markers in this cemetery and markers in other old cemeteries have been lost this way.

I'm going to add your information to my own family records under Stephen's section.

Your information about the cemetery is very good and contains historical history about the cemetery. I wondered if you had considered adding the exact same information to Stephen's memorial, as it gives some of the history to his burial place.

Until Later.....God Bless,
Judith Nan Lewis

I forgot to add one other thing the book had about Gilliland Cemetery. The writer said that the missing graves must have been moved elsewherre, by relatives and that the ones which were left were fenced in and that the land around those were fenced and in a pasture.

RE: Lucinda Harris Holliday, Gilland cemetery
Hi Kay,

Her name was Malinda in all records I found except on Ala Deaths death certificate info for child, Joe Ella Elkin. Father is given as Steve Holliday/Mother is given as Lindy Harris.

I cannot speak for her relatives as to her first name, first in respect, second-they may have called her Lucinda at some point.

I can tell you that in an early writting on the Harris Family which was put into paper-back and later book form, had in it that Lucinda Harris married in the year 1870 at 19 years old and that it was on record in marriage records.

No exact Date or Place was given. I think it was much closer to 1868 and I believe Malinda was probably born abt March 1848.

Also in Book it had that Lucinda Harris was born in 1851 didn't give a death date but said she was buried at Gilliland's Cemetery. It had that Stephen Holliday was born April 13-1857 and died Jan. 20-1919 and that he was the husband of Lucinda Harris Holliday and was buried at Gilliland's Cemetery. It had that the writer visited Billiland Cemetery in 1977 and there were only 6 graves and 2 tombs, S. H. Holliday and Nancy Mattox; it said Washington & Elizabeth Harris was "belived" to be buried there (this was one belief of two beliefs at the time and this one was the only one mentioned in the book)(please refer to memorials for Washington "W.W." Harris & Elizabeth Webb Harris at Webb Cemetery)

I was confused about the birth date, as well as the name Lucinda, Malinda Harris, daughter of Washingon & Elizabeth Webb Harris was never shown born over 1848 in census. Of course, they maynot have known when she was born for sure and like I said , they may have called her Lucinda at some point.

So, I'm sorry that I can't help you with the Holliday's.

Until Later.....God Bless,

I'm on ancestry.com every day, rain or shine.

My Herndons were mainly in Coweta and Meriwether Counties. My Herndon Grandfather from Coweta Co married my Hawk grandmother from Heard County.

None of these names are in my database. But I did notice that some are buried in Heard County, GA. My ancestors were right next door in Coweta co. Do you leave in North Alabama?

I'm curious. Who was your Herndon grandmother? Give me a few Herndon generations so I can see if we are related.

My grandfather was Preston Anderson Herndon (Coweta Co., GA) and his father was Preston Anderson Horne Herndon (Meriwether and Coweta Co., GA, and his father was Edward Herndon (Elbert Co., and Meriwether Co., GA)and his father was Benjamin Herndon (Virginia and Elbert Co., GA) and his father was Edward Herndon (Virginia).
