Nancy-I was glad to help. The sections they are buried in are term areas where the gravesites were often resold and I have gotten so used to having to disappoint people because there are no markers that yours made my day. I even told the cemetery staff that if someone had told me that I'd have a great day in the Q sections I would have declared that person crazy. Six finds in the Qs today..that's a good day at St Joseph's :-) ...Mary

It is a pretty little cemetery. Right off of a busy street, but oddly peaceful. I remember there was an apple tree that was dropping a lot of fruit when I visited -- the whole place smelled of apples!

|Melanie Shepherd||Mary Wharton|
Just wanted to let you and readers know that I believe this "Mary Wharton" at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery is "Mary Catherine Wharton"--the FIRST wife of Alfred Nelson Wharton. So, regarding the initials on her headstone...it would be A.N. Wharton. Alfred is buried with his second wife in Porter Rea Cemetery. Mary Catherine's maiden name was Stull. Mary Catherine and Alfred Nelson Wharton had ONE child together...Charles Edward Wharton. She died four days after giving birth to Charles. Charles was born 30 Jan 1888.

My pleasure, Nancy. The photo has been placed with my notes attached. When I search the wall next time, I will look again for Rose's name, in case I missed it. I've just claimed Verena Chaussee in the same location, so I'll add the Rose Garden photo and look for Verena's name on the Wall next time I'm there. If I find a plaque for her, I'll add that photo too. (I think it's time I write down – or photograph up close – all the names on that wall!)

Hi, Nancy. The location you cited for rose indicates scattering of ashes in the Rose Garden at El Toro Memorial Park. I verified that with the office. I was unable to locate a plaque on the wall that commemorates *some* of those whose ashes are scattered. So I can provide no photo showing her name. I do have a photo of the general area of the rose garden, so if you wish I will post that on her page. If you don't want it, please withdraw your request. If I withdraw on my end, it will stay posted and someone else may try all over again to find her. I'm so sorry I couldn't fulfill your request. Please let me know if you'd like the general Rose Garden photo. Marina

|Kalyber||Thank you so much|
I am so impressed with your work on the Sester Line. I have been searching for August Sester information and was thrilled to find it here.
I believe we corresponded about the Sester family about 18 years ago. Did you used to have email address with compuserve?

Hi Nancy. Thought I would pass on a great tool I use for calculating the birth dates of people whose headstone gives death date and age. Here is the link. It is free, by the way.

Yes, photos of the original stones were taken. Our family association replaced the old stones in August 1991 since they were cracked and broken. We had the originals cemented into the ground in front of the new stones. I will look for photos of the original stones. I'm not quite sure how to upload them but will try to do so after attending the annual reunion next month.
Thank you for all your work!

|B. D.||RE: Milton Stanley photos|
Thank you so much. Milton Stanley is my Great-Great-Great-Grandfather on my Mother's side. His wife Elizabeth Ashley Martin Stanley is also buried there and I do have a photo of her gravestone, so I am very happy to now have one of Milton's also. I live in California and have many ancestors buried in far away places that I can't go to, so this website and people like you are a wonderful resource!

Links made to his parents. Unfortunately, my interest in Burley is solely because he married a CRAMER and I've never done any further work on his family. Many thanks for posting the pictures.
