So, is this the John Flattum you are related to?
I am from his brother Ole's branch.

Send me your private email address and I can send you obits for most of the family.

In answer to your query on Lime Creek Lutheran Cemetery, it is located in Emmons on State Line Road. The Church has been moved to the 'Farming of Yester Year Site' in Kiester, but the cemetery remains with a nice memorial of the church and the beautiful silver arched gates. I have some obits of many Flattum's if you are interested as this is my family, too.

Another Goodwin
I added the very old Sleeper Cemetery to Find A Grave database, on a dirt road on the St Albans mountain last week. Not many remaining headstones, and filled with brush, weeds, potholes and vines, as well as being in the midst of coyote and bear habitat! But a female, Marium Grover with maiden name of Goodwin, dau of Eph. is among them. Perhaps you have official documentation of the spelling of Marium/Mariium or is it Mirium, as it is listed with several varients.

Just thought you might like to know that I added a few of the oldest Goodwin headstones photos, including Civil War veteran George, this week.

I have not sourced this information yet, so can't say for sure... but here is what I have:

David's parents were:

Benjamin Leighton b. abt 1735 in Dover, NH, d. 8 Jan 1824 in Mt. Vernon, ME and Jane Webber, b. abt 1742, d. 5 Mar 1823 in Mt. Vernon, ME

Benjamin's parents were:

John Leighton, b. 1698 in Dover, NH and Sarah

John's parents were:

John Leighton, b. abt 1673 in Dover, NH, d. abt 1718
and Sarah Cromwell, b. abt 1668, d. after Jan. 1754 in Berwick, ME

John's parents were:

Thomas Leighton & Elizabeth Nutter (which you have info for, I assume)..

Thomas is my husband's 7th great grandfather.

Re: Fred Schutte
I found the 1920 US census record for him as a widower living in Templeton, San Luis Obispo, California with his adopted son and the son's wife. The census was enumerated on 23 January 1920. The engagement announcement you found was in the San Luis Opispo Daily Telegram [same county]. Has to be the same Fred Schutte, and it gives his birth year & place.

RE: Eudora Southard (1870-)
Thanks so much for the engagement announcement for Alice Pratt and Fred Schutte in the San Luis Obispo, California, Daily Telegraph dated 28 April 1920. I knew they had to have married between 1920 and 1930, and apparently they weren't married long. She was a widow by the 1930 US Census.

Because my mother became great friends with Ynez Hughston, step-daughter of Josephine Eudora Pratt Hughston, she also became acquainted with Alice Schutte and Alice's mother Eudora Mcclure (according to my mother she was called Nana.

Josephine was a drama critic for the San Jose [California] Mercury and frequently invited my mother to attend events with her. My mother was very fond of her.

Josephine married Cornelius Bushnell Hughston after his first wife died leaving three children.

If I have any pictures, it likely would only be of Ynez and as a step-daughter, she doesn't actually tie into the Southard family.

Eudora Southard (1870-)
Eudora A. Southard
1850: Eudora Southard (appears to be the firstborn of Timothy & Mary Ann Gullifer Southard)
1860: Udora Southard (This census is the only place where her name is expressed this way.)
1880: Dora A. Mcclure (husband Joseph A. Mcclure)
1900: Dora M. Mcclure ("M" is likely in error)
1920: Endora Mcclure (widowed; living with daughter Alice M. M. Pratt in California)
1930: Eudora Mcclure (living in San Jose, California, with her granddaughter, granddaughter's husband, & also with her mother, Alice Schutte (Alice Maud McClure Pratt). I believe the census enumerator got mixed up on the ages & relationships. Alice is Josephine's mother, although she appears to have remarried at some time between 1920 & 1930 (haven't yet found a record); Eudora is Josephine's grandmother. My mother knew this family in San Jose. She said that Josephine's mother was Alice Schutte and that Mrs. Schutte's mother was called Nana.

Lydia Leighton
Yes, she was Lydia Rogers. I have her parents as John and Mary (Molly) Fernald. I will have to research this again to make sure it is correct. Thank you for the information. I will get back to you as soon as I have time to dig a little deeper to find out what's right. (This would mean she is a sister to Ruth Prescott, right?)

Hi Cheryl . . . yes, Helmer Johnson was my maternal grandmother's brother. I remember Edna very well: a kind and loving lady. It's good she's linked to her parents.

The "little green icon" persists on my computer. I must have some sort of virus I guess. Of course, all that happens is if you slide the mouse over the icon an advertisement pops up. If the advertiser only knew that this sort of unwelcomed intrusion on my personal computer was having a negative effect on my opinion of their product they might not be so anxious to do it.

Anyway, thanks for linking to Edna and best of luck to you!

Hello . . . I have linked parents to my gr-aunt Edna (ANDERSON) JOHNSON (# 77880659) as you requested. Funniest thing though: there is a small green icon next to her maiden name which, if you place your mouse on it, produces an advertisement. Did you know that? Do you know what that is all about? I've never seen such a thing on Find A Grave. Let me know, ok? Thanks for your note.
