You sent a request for corrections.
Are you related? May I transfer to you?
Are there other family members in the area that I could assist you in finding?

|Wayne Alligood||Brantly-Thompson cemetery|
Dear Ms. Robinson,
You have contributed so much great work on Owens and Byrd Genealogy in the Conecuh County Alabama area. Your efforts are much appreciated. I make the assumption that you live in that area. Is this correct? If so may I make a request? There is a very old cemetery that has not been cataloged and no photo essay has been made of it.
The name of the cemetery is Brantly-Thompson. It is located in Conecuh County on private property. The nearest intersection is called "Brantly cross roads" which I think is intersection of Loree Road #20 and county road 15. I was told by, Gregory "Greg" Brantley that the cemetery is on a large estate, and is managed by a hired overseer. According to Greg this overseer is a friendly man willing to grant access to the cemetery outside of hunting seasons. Greg could not remember his name and did not have any contact information.
Would you be so kind as to see if you can gain access to this cemetery and properly catalog and photograph it? I know around 2004 this headstone of LW Brantly was relocated from the Brantly -Thompson Cemetery to its present location in the Bermuda Community Cemetery. His remains were not relocated, only the headstone. Any help will be appreciated.

Would you be so kind as to look at RE memorials and see if your records are of any assistance in establishing which of the two Linn Flat cemeteries is the correct one for Phillip Owens, Sr and Martha A. Byrd Owens? My confidence level is not high among the two but have high confidence it is one of them.

|Wayne Alligood||Location where Phillip Marion and Mary Ann "Mittie" McLean Owens are buried|
When I was very young, perhaps 7-years old (maybe 1957), my grandfather and one of his relatives visited a couple of cemeteries. There was one that has remained indelibly etched in my memory because of an iron fence separating as small plot from its surroundings. My grandfather, Edward Joshua "Jimmy or EJ" Owens told me this is the cemetery where his grandfather and his father were buried. These are very old memories on which I do not rely upon.
In 1987 my uncle, Edward's son Dr. Henry Owens, in support of my genealogy pursuits, took me on a tour of many cemeteries in Monroe and Conecuh County Alabama. I was very pleased to see that old iron fence in the Jenkins Chapel Cemetery. That fence validated my childhood memory.
In 1985 a cousin Dennis Owens informed me that a lady in Conecuh County had compiled a great collection of genealogy notes regarding the Owens family of that area. I do not remember if that lady was Helen Burt or Florence Waters but it was one of the two. At that time I purchased a copy of her files. Within those document she stated clearly that both Phillip Marion and Mary Ann "Mittie" McLean Owens are buried in the Jenkins Chapel Cemetery.
I have found no other source of documents that confirm or refute the fact of correctness. It is with reasonable certainty I assume that Jenkins Chapel is the correct Cemetery where Phillip and Mary Ann are buried. Is there some reason that you think the location may be incorrect, other than the absents of confirming documents?

I went out to Serenity Gardens and the lady was reluctant to help as she was busy but did so by giving me a site name and number but didn't have a map. Couldn't find the grave with just the info given as area is confusing without a map. Willingly spent an hour wandering around looking.

just curious, my wife's mother was a Chitty.
Thanks for your suggestions, Jack

Hello, I have removed my photo from this memorial. But I am not the person who created it. You will need to ask Harmony & Heritage to remove the Memorial they added.
