130974154 Michael Tierney
Hello Mother Miller, My husband's 3x great grandfather was Michael Tierney and you took a picture of his gravestone. I was wondering if you knew if he was buried with other family around him. There are no other Tierney's that come up when I search in the cemetery, yet the newspaper articles say others are buried there. I looked on line for an online database of who is buried there besides Findagrave and don't have an answer. Any suggestions or knowledge in this area?
Thanks. Meri

RE: Young/Francisco (part 2)
I can't thank you enough for your efforts in digging up both records and uncovering stones! It is odd that the stones and cemetery records do not have dates. David Francisco (Semanda's husband) would have been the "Mr. Francisco" relocated from SandHill Cemetery, as he died before Oakland Cemetery was established (died sometime between the 1840 and 1850 Census). I have created a memorial page for David (146064600).

"FF & DF" are two sons of Francis Henry Francisco who died as children and I have created memorial pages for them as well. "Frank Francisco" (probably Francis Francisco Jr) - born 1849, death date unknown (# 146081815) and another David Francisco, born 1851 and died in 1868 at age 16 and a half of diptheria (# 146082283). It appears that FHF's widow, Cordelia, moved to Iowa to live with her sister. Still researching who the "AF" could be.

I have put a name correction in for the GF Francisco memorial to be changed to George Jacob Francisco, but it has not been changed yet.

So there are 6 flat stones (with 7 sets of initials) on the Francisco side of the monument and just 2 on the Young side? Unless the cemetery records indicate, I guess it is not clear if the "MFY" on the large monument and the flat stone refer to Merritt F Young or to his mother, Maria L. (Francisco) Young.

Thanks again for all of your help putting this together.

RE: Young/Francisco (part 2)
Thanks so much! And I thought later that MFY on the medallion on the large monument could be either Merrit F Young or his mother, Maria Francisco Young. I think the MFY on the large monument may be Merritt - he died before his mother. I will look forward to seeing what you can literally dig up/uncover! Hopefully Semanda and David and maybe another marker that will clear up Merritt vs Maria (Maria's middle initial was L).

Thanks again,
Laura Beth

Young/Francisco (part 2)
I just noticed on the large Young/Francisco monument that there are circular medalions towards the top with initials - MFY on the Young side (Maria Francisco Young) and GJF on the Francisco side (George Jacob Francisco - Maria's brother). I was just wondering if there were any additional initials on the other two sides of the monument?

Thanks again for the photographs,
Laura Beth

Thank you so much for photographing the monument for Merritt F Young and his mother, Maria Francisco Young. The "JLY" marker you photographed is for Merritt's father - John Losey Young. I have added a new memorial page for him if you would like to add your photos so that you can be properly credited - #145604162. I am interested in any other photos of markers you took associated with the Young/Francisco monument - possibilities include David & Semanda Francisco (Maria's parents) and George Jacob Francisco (Maria's brother).

Thank you!

Jacob Holzapfel in Oakland Cemetery,Sandusky, Ohio
This is confusing because the inscription is in German and the word "Den" means "Day"(not December). Jacob died on "Den/Day" 11 Juli 1864. It also says he was 39 years and 5 months old. This fits since he was born in February 1825. Jacob is my 2nd great-grandfather. Thank you for putting his grave on Find a Grave.

Gesina Lohstroh Ortmann
I am a part of the Lostroh (Lohstroh) family that settled in Lancaster County Nebraska area. Gesina was born in the same area as my ancestors, so assume we are of the same family line. Can you put me in contact with the Ortman family or someone that might know her parents name and possible birth dates.

Thanks you so much for posting the grave information and help.
