Palo Alto Cemetery
Don, If you are ever in the area again, can you please take pics of all the tombstones for those with the last name of "White" in the Palo Alto Cemetery in Catahoula Parish. I noticed you took a few there before. I appreciate your help. Thanks, Eva

RE: Ernest Girlinghouse
Thanks so much, Don. I wondered why Vida's tombstone showed no death date. That would explain it. She didn't know where in PA she died, did she? I didn't see a F.A.G. memorial for her besides the "false" one in Jena.

Thanks for adding the family links. I also filled out the F.A.G. form for updating his places of birth & death as well as full name. I guess you'll be getting a notice about that. I don't know how that new feature works.

I created a memorial for Joan a few days ago after her niece (Libby) told me about her passing. Ernest & Lloyd were my 1st cousins, twice removed (my grandmother was a Girlinghouse).

Blessings,

Elizabeth Cross Powell history
I wonder if you know her family and where they lived in SC. Also, do you have information on the Powell family history??

This is my wife's family and I am trying to collect the loose ends for my son and grand sons.

Thanks-
Really appreciate the photos of Cotten cemetery. When I reuested them, I was not sure that anyone could even find the cemetery. Were there only the two graves listed on Find A Grave in the cemetery? Thanks Jane

Sheila
Glyn Stephens
Hi Don,

Per your earlier mention in your original photo request as to how Lieutenant lost his life, I submitted an edit request on October 6th suggesting that the following be included as a bio note to his memorial:

"1st Lieutenant Stephens was killed in a B-26 bomber crash in Monroe, Louisiana (per Don Enlow, #47612092)"

Per your message on my wall confirming that he was piloting the aircraft, I modified my suggested edit a bit and added it as a caption to his individual stone photo.

I tried to find his mother through record searches to no avail. The Lieutenant is actually buried next to his father, and two of his brothers plus Mary Stephens (b 1890) (whom I haven't been able to tie in, but is buried next to Bennie) are buried in this same plot.

I actually took photos for the entire family there, and I imagine I will post them for the time being. When the weather is not playing tricks on me and I am in Leesville, I plan to trim around the stones a bit and retake them (wish I knew when they mowed there).

When I accomplish this, I will touch base with you. Thank you for remembering and honoring our fallen service members.

Good day,
Sheila

Holmes "Oswalt Cemetery"
Don, thank you for the photos and information you provided. It appears that a lot of markers are being taken by mother nature, and you assured us of saving them. I do have a lot of family buried in the cemetery, and not sure if your able to go back out, I am adding more requests. Also interested in a photo of the cemetery itself since none are listed.

Thanks again for your most welcome preservation of the memorials

Gordon Holmes

Jeff Johnson
Lost Cemeteries in Concordia Parish
I noticed from your postings that you have done some research in Concordia parish and I have a question for you. My ggggrandfather (John Johnson) owned the property that is supposed to be the location of the Point Place cemetery (per FindAGrave, it is located on Raymond Cowan Rd in rural Concordia parish). A couple yrs ago, I drove out there looking for some indication of the cemetery, but there was just a field and a cow pasture. I did some walking around, but could not find any headstones or anything. FindAGrave also lists another cemetery about a mile away called the Homeplace Cemetery. But similarly, the site of the cemetery only appeared to be a field. I have searched the web and can find no other information other than the coordinates that are on FindAGrave. I live in TN, so I don't get back there very often. I was wondering if you had any information about either of these cemeteries Or if you had any suggestions of someone I could contact to get more information about them.

Thank You - Jeff

I saw about 115 requests for photos at this cemetary and I missed what you sent. I am trying to get several requests and get as many photos as I can at one time. I will add you to the list and try to go in the next couple of weeks.
