I just located that he was buried there by virtue of his death certificate. None of the other Lackey soldiers had markers until about 10 years ago. I have found an additional soldier (Jack Ross) whose grave is unmarked. Current VA policy makes it extremely difficult obtain grave markers for pre World War II vets. Among other things it requires that the next of kin make the applicaiton. Thanks for your efforts

I have also been contacted to make some connections to this family, but mine are starting with George Olivers Father and Mother, Shafer and Stella. I am in the process or adding the information and the links to Shafer and Stella-I have 7 of their children to connect. Some are in Indiana, some in Kentucky, and some in Florida. When I can get all this stuff taken care of I can transfer it, but I kinda hate to in the middle of this. I also have the memorials for George, his parents, and a few other family members.

Ashlock Cemetery Description
Sheila,
Would you do me a huge favor? Would you put more information in about the Ashlock Cemetery?

Ashlock Cemetery located near Hwy 27 on Gilbert's Creek near the Garrard/Lincoln County line just outside of Stanford, Kentucky on the old Ashlock/Holtzclaw homestead, which is now owned by the Sheron family.

Thank you!

The problem is that many books have listed the cemetery in Garrard County at different times through history, and some of our relative believe this is where the location of the cemetery.

Thanks again,
Tamela J Ashlock

Yes, that would be fine, thank you. Aunt Dora never had children but if someone else comes along requesting it I will certainly pass her memorial on.

So Sorry!
You kindly took edit I sent for my great aunt Dora Elam 138141292. Lucky I double checked as unintentionally listed wrong parents, one being her sister. I just sent the 'correct' edits again and thought to send a note so you maybe won't think I'm nuts! ;-) Think I was up too late that evening. Thanks for all you do for Find A Grave!

Hi girl. As long as I have known you, I never realized the connection. My husband's grandfaher was William Monroe Smith, a son of Crim Smith and a brother to Julia Ann. I just realized as I was going back over the connections on findagrave. It really is a small world, isn't it?

Thanks for all the tombstone pictures & corrections. We were both wrong on the Back/Buck name. It was Bock. I found info on her after I had the right name.
Shirley Dunn said in her book on tombstone inscriptions that in the process of copying, transcribing and typing, dates are subject to error.
I have found that she should have included names in that list also. The pictures help to fill in missing info and correct mistakes.
The photos are "GREATLY" appreciated.

Grave marker photo
Thanks Sheila.
I am in Somerset and had planned on coming to the Mt. Moriah cemetery to view the grave stone but for one reason or more did not.

Sarah Janie Spires was my grandfather's sister. He was Wm. Green Bradley and lived here in Somerset. He worked for the Southern Railway at the railroad shops here until he retired.

Sincerely,
Gary Bradley
