RE: Find A Grave Memorial# 124901681
Thank you so much for Darryl Alan Gallaugher's family information. I would still be floundering around if you had not assisted.

Find A Grave Memorial# 124901681
Re: Darryl Gallaugher

Hi, I ran across Darryl Gallaugher's memorial and couldn't place him in my family tree. My aunt, Olive Leora (Liebe) and Elmer Gallaugher were my aunt and uncle. They resided in Chillicothe, Ohio so I am almost positive we all are related to Darryl, especially with the last name spelled with a "u." After seeing that you personally posted his pictures, I am hopeful that you can tell me who Darryl's parents are. I have searched but am unable to find a clue. I will thank you now for any help you can provide.

You are very welcome. I myself had a boyfriend from high school, a fiancee, and a brother who all served in VietNam, plus almost all my high school class mates. We were so very lucky; all came home alive. I honor those who did not, and those who served there. Canyon Hill is a very beautiful place to rest.

Hi Bob,
No trouble. The spelling is back to "Micky" and the note is gone.
Have a good one...Glenn

You're welcome. For accuracy sake, I've had the name changed to the correct spelling on the memorial and with an added note of explanation giving you credit.

I was in the Army, too. It was my great pleasure to find him - not easy in that place. You're very welcome and happy New 2015 to you as well.

RE: SP5 Kenneth Eskes
Here's what you sent me.

SP5 Kenneth Eskes

Good afternoon Dr. Owston,

I've been doing research on the Army Unit that
SP5 Kenneth Eskes served with while he was in Vietnam. I've recently acquired a high school photo and an obituary from Steubenville Ohio.
I have obit information I would like to add to
his tribute.

Would you please transfer his findagrave tribute to me, I'm also in pursuit of his grave monument, at the present time this avenue is blocked by another request for the monument.

Kenneth served with Company B 4th Engineers, he was attached to 1st of the 12th Infantry 4 Infantry Division when he died.

RE: Dennis Hershner

You're very welcome for the photos, Robert. The marker is close to a tree. I think the mowers end up taking various angles around it and one caused the marker trim to break. Once that happened the damage just continued. I probably have 10 or so photos if you'ld like a full one to work with. Won't help with damage, but you can crop out more of it. Please let me know. Glad I could help out for a vet.

The person who built/maintains the site must make the change. I don't know enough about find a grave to tell you more; I simply go take photos and post them whenever I can.

Hello Bob,
Thank you for posting our Tom's photo on this site. He will be remembered for his contributions to the US Army. Glad you were able to sort out the two Sherry's.

RE: Spc 4 Robert Owen Cole
Hi Robert,
Thanks for the follow up email. I did see the medals inscribed on his headstone but didn't understand why they were not listed on the site you posted. I did a little more research and now I think I understand based on the comments posted by Rocky's (Robert Owen Cole) high school friend Gordon Smith on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial The Wall-USA site ( respect his wishes and agree with you that he is a HERO.

Sgt Thomas Sherry
I got pics today per your request for Sgt Thomas Sherry's gravesite. Sorry it took me so long. Har har. :-]
His stone has a real bad rust stain on it. I scrubbed and scrubbed on it and got some of the stain out but it would take dynamite to get the rest of it out! I think the cemetery frowns on doing that. Ho ho ho.
Somebody told me the cemetery uses fertilizer with iron in it and that is what causes some of the stones to get the rust stains on them. Don't know if that is right or not??

Spc 4 Robert Owen Cole
Hi Robert, I posted a photo of Spc 4 Coles headstone that you requested. Something is bothering me though. You stated on the photo of him that you posted, he was awarded the Silver Star and the Bronze Star. you also posted the link for the Virtual Wall web site. They don't show Spc 4 Cole as receiving either award in their list by awards or on his personal spec sheet.
If you have some documentation for this could you contact the Virtual wall and get this corrected.
As a fellow Vietnam Vet I would love to see credit given where deserved.

Thanks, Ron

No, it is all okay. I think you took the photo and the typing needs to be changed from Richland, GA to Preston, GA because they are about 25 miles apart.

Hi! I went to the Macedonia Church today and a woman doing mowing there showed me that there are about 10 black graves there and he was one. But the photo states he is buried in Richland, GA. He is actually buried 7 miles south of Preston, GA. Richland is in Stewart Co. miles away.

RE: John Wayne Johnson
Do not take this as racist, but this is an all white cemetery and the one I suggested is close to it and called the same name, but it is a black church. I will see what I can find out but it may be a while. I was going to take photos at the Webster Co. one soon, it is just so hot now.
