Old Mobley Cemetery
Emily,

Hello!!!

I went to the cemetery and I took pictures of everything that I could see. If you look at Richard's picture, you'll see the grass is quite high. I plan to go back and look for more headstones and take a weedeater with me to cut all of that stuff down to where i can see the ground.

I took pictures of everything that was in there and posted them all except for one footstone that I couldn't find the headstone to. The footstone has nothing on it - it's just a rectangular piece of concrete. I added the records for the headstones that I found that you didn't have in the cemetery.

Can you please go back through the records you have and verify that the others are supposed to be here. Also, no one in the area is calling this the Old Mobley Cemetery, they're calling it the Helton Cemetery. Any idea why it's called that?

The directions going North on Rich Valley Rd(700), pass by Bethany Rd on right side. Turn left at Brick house just past Bethany Rd. Cemetery is located in a fenced lot on top of hill behind the brick house.

Thanks for all your help with this!!!!!

Best regards,
Keith Meadows

RE: Old Mobley Cemetery
Emily,

I appreciate it. Give me a few days and I'll get back with you. If that's where it's at someone that lives right there should know about it and I'll get you some more descriptive directions to put up there for it.

Thank you for everything!!!

Best regards,
Keith Meadows

Emily,

I'm in the area, but I'll take any hint that I can get.. :-)

On the map, does it show if it's above or below route 19? That will cut down the size of the investigation greatly....

Thanks for your help!!

Best regards,
Keith Meadows

Emily,

Can you give me some directions to the Old Mobley Cemetery in Washington Co. Va? The folks in here are related to my father-in-law. I'll be sending some links once I have everything verified.

Best regards,

RE: Susan Darnes Uffner
Emily - I'm sorry I haven't answered your message before now. I've been so busy at work until I haven't had a chance to get back into my genealogy searching. Yes, you are definitely more than welcome to use the photos of Susan. I can't remember if I had added Cyrus' photo or not, but you can use his also. My line is from their daughter, Blanche Viola Uffner Holman. Take care and have a nice weekend!

He died four miles south of Clatskanie, so he died within the county, not the city limits.

Akers and Talbert
I am doing some checking for a friend. His last name Akers. Are all those memorials you manage for Akers and Talbert verified, as the cemetery of each person listed? Just double checking. Thanks for your time, and happy hunting!!!!

Hi Emily...am interested in where you found the info on my gg-grandfather who you have listed in the River Bridge Cemetery, Washington Co., VA. Where exactly is the Cemetery..address/location. We have him listed in the "Hill Cemetery", Washington Co., VA, but no proof. If you have a record of him being buried in the River Bridge Cemetery, that would be great news for us. Also, would love for you to transfer his Memorial to me. Thank you for your hard work and dedication in helping others. Thank you...Anna Huth

I see you posted most if not all of the burials in the above referenced cemetery in Washington County, VA, last week. Do you have marker photos that you plan to post soon? I am particularly interested in Johnson & Prater.

Thanks!

Dee

Mary Ann Moffet
Hi Emily! I was wondering how you found the note about where Mary Ann Moffett was buried (under two cedar trees with Abraham Gobble's home near by). I'm curious about the locations of some Gobbles in Washington County, VA.

B. C. "Bud" Hopkins
George Washington Parks, Jr.
Thanks for the info! I am curious about what you sent me about my great grandfather George Washington Parks, Jr., memorial #16798730. You mentioned that a note listed in the cemetery record book (I assume the Eldora Cemetery were his remains are buried) for George said "Co. B, 28th Ia. Inf. Mex. War" So far I have found no records for this, as according to his military and pension records he actually served in Co. H, 2nd Regiment, Nebraska Cavalry during the Civil War. The 28th Iowa Infantry and Company B was also a unit of the Union Army during the Civil War. I have found no records of him serving in the Mexican/American War to date, although his age would indicate this was possible. How would I get a copy of the note from the cemetery records? Do you have a copy of them?
