Armstrong History
Hi - I saw your note on the memorial page and wanted to let you know that I came across an old WWI photo of Clarence that all match up w/ the memorial page. It was too good to pass by w/o posting and letting you know. I am going through pages & pages searching for a relative's WWI photo and when I can find other matches it's "a treasure" to good to pass by w/o sharing . . . especially if you haven't seen it! Hope it's of some value to your family research!

Hi! It is always nice to meet new cousins. When trying to update these memorials for my family, I realized I did not have much information on Bob Nelson or on Ofa after she moved to California. I remember meeting him and Ofa, but I was very young at the time. Do you have any information that we could add to Bob or Ofa's memorials - obituaries, stories, etc.? Do you have a wedding date for them? We are finally getting some spring weather and flowers are starting to come up. Hope you are enjoying spring at your house.
Take Care, Deidre Brickner

RE: Mary Ann Williams Vinzant
This is the only info that I have on her. She was supposedly born in Mississippi. Strangely, there is a marriage record in Covington, St Tammany Parish, Louisiana to William Vinzant 17 Aug 1845. She is located in the 1850 Hinds Co., MS,
1860-1880 Smith Co., MS Censuses. Her husband died in Lemon, Smith, MS. She was in the 1900 Spinola, Smith Co., MS Census. I don't have her parents. Someone else may have them. There is quite a bit of history on the Vinzants. I've never really pursued her history. She is the wife of my 5th great uncle.

It was no problem at all. The irony is I took that picture in the morning and I received your photo request that same afternoon. I volunteer my time by taking photos of grave stones for family members. Best wishes to you and your family. If you need any more photos please let me know.
Thank you,

RE: Eli J Crockett #65341571
Mary Williams (Eli's second wife) was the oldest sister of my 2nd great-grandfather, Robert Williams. She appears in censuses of 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 in Missouri (Grundy County for the first three, then Mercer County for the last). She was born in Virginia sometime around 1816-1820, depending on which census you choose. The Williams family came from Virginia to Missouri around 1839, some of the earliest settlers of the area. At this time, I have not found Mary after the 1880 census. She was living with her widowed 92 year old mother at that time, and was a widow herself. You probably already know that her husband, Eli Crockett, died in 1863 and is buried in the Middlebury Cemetery, but I have not located Mary in that cemetery.

Hey, my Aunt Clara ' s maiden name was SpinKs, I am pretty sure. I don't know where she was born. I know Uncle Walter met her while she was living in Birmingham, AL. She was his second wife and I believe his first wife, Hervie, was Clara ' s cousin.

RE: Eli Crockett 1803
Eli J. and Elijah are definitely two different people. They are listed separately in the 1850 and 1860 Census reports. Eli (Eley) is also listed in the 1840 Census while Elijah can be found in the 1870 and 1880 Census reports. Looking quickly at my documentation led me to realize that I cannot verify that John and Jennie are the parents of Eli or Elijah. I will investigate thoroughly and if I can not verify the parents of Eli and Elijah, I will delete them from my trees. I have no personal family history. I have tried to use historical documentation to build my family trees; I may have relied on other family trees too heavily...I will proceed more cautiously. Interestingly enough though, it would not have been too unusual for a family to have two sons named Eli and Elijah. I find the same or similar names occuring in families repeatedly...two and three children with the same or similar names. John and Jennie are my 5th great grandparents through their son Robert...if my research is correct. If I find any additional info that will resolve these issues, I'll be glad to let you know. Sorry for the confusion.

It usually works better if you go the memorial and hit the edit button and hit other and type your note for transfer. That way I just type in your hit transfer and type in your number. Your way may be easier. Hope you got the transfers. Thanks, Janine
