"IRISH EYES ARE SMILING"
JAMES BARRETT
Wonder if there is also a monument? for James as he was a Civil War Vet. I do know that sometimes there are two memorials. If you run across any other Barretts; I would be very grateful. I don't live in IOwa or i would do it myself. I have been back to California since last Fall of 2010.

That would be so nice of you to go back and search. The cemetery office should be able to help. I can't find a Melvin Barrett or his family either. If it is okay with you; I will post your photos on the iAGENWEB tombstone project also for others to share.Let me know. Thanks again~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks for the Barrett stone pic. I am still looking for the Samuel who died in 1922. Maybe he is buried close to this Barrett family stone. Also looking for a Melvin Barrett. Thanks again~

My father was an Motor Transport instructor at Camp Johnson. They called it Montford Point way back when. He was there from 1960-1981. We lived in the Piney Green area. My daughter, Meghan graduated from WOHS in 1999. Don't worry about the typing I just wanted to make sure it was a typo instead of you having the wrong information.

Velma
Did you also notice the difference in years of birth and death for her? Her DOB on grave was 1921 and her DOD was 1998? How long did you live in Jacksonville and in what area? I have lived here since 1960...military brat...who married a Marine turned firefighter. Just wondering. Kathy

Amanda, Please notice the different spelling and years for your maternal grandmother. I had recognized the last name as being familiar. Your grandmother is buried beside the brother of a dear friend of mine. I am happy I was able to fulfill your photo request. If I can assist you in the future do not hestitate to contact me.

Dear Amanda,

I can't find words to express my thanks for your
kindness in taking and sending this photograph.

My niece in England and I have been searching in vain for a long time. His name, age and date
of death is on his parent's memorial stone in
Nottinghamshire, England but we were never able
to find a record of his death. Until recently we
really weren't sure that he had come to this country.
He and his younger twin brothers were fostered out,
in 1877 when their father died, they had lost their
mother just the year before. I understand from
family stories that they were very unkindly treated.

I thank you very very much. This has meant a great
deal to me.
Regards,

Evelyn Therieau
