Genealogy is my hobby. It is like being a detective on a case - but a really cold case. Having been a history teacher in another life (1977-1986), I know how precious memories are. These memories give a sense of pride, purpose,and connectedness. I would like to leave an understanding of ancestors to my children and children's children. Not all that is learned is positive and good but it gives us deeper appreciation of our current perception of who and what we are today and what will be shared with future generations. Some of the historical data is being lost to future generations through indirect ignorance and neglect. That is my hobby, it is a small contribution to preserving the past to guide the future.
