Hello again. I hadn't heard back from you so I don't think it looks like you are interested, but I am giving you another go because sometimes life gets in the way of our ambitions and stuff just doesn't happen the way we'd like it to. At the moment there is about 8 or 10 of us that are seriously wanting to tackle the entire cemetery. There is one couple who are committed to do an entire section on the east side, from the fence at the street on Centrel, to the block wall that divides the two areas. It seems to be about an acre. My point is, if we had more volunteers interested, we could have the whole plan done in no time. If you are interested, leave me a message. On May 26 we knocked out about a thousand or so, but I believe we could do better. What to you say?
Best Regards,
Bonnie

Woodlawn Cemetery - Compton
I noticed that last September you claimed a photo request, reported a problem finding the stone, but indicated you would be going back and just needed more time. As you can see, that request is still open. I just wanted to say, Yes, I agree with you, that cemetery is in bad shape. The class action lawsuit is over and the cemetery has been ordered to make renovations, but I do not know the time frame.

Anyway, a couple of us locals discussed the idea of getting a group together and going there to photograph the entire cemetery. I know this would be a huge undertaking, but the more people we could get together, the faster it would go. I know we would not be able to do it all in one day, but if we spread it out over several weekends, it would be doable.

Are you interested?

Glad you're back, things are going well. Someone else found my Lossing's and posted them. Your squirrel photo continues to bring chuckles to my circle of friends. We are a bunch of nuts.

Funeral Services were held Oct 26, 1959, I suspect that his wife is buried there also but haven't been able to prove that, her name was Ida Breen.

Thank you for your efforts, I have the memorial card from his service that list this cemetery but right now am unable to get to that information because of the Missouri River Flooding this summer (I sent all old family history information to my mom's out of town!) I have 2 different copies of his obits but neither of them list the cemetery. My grandmother did family history for years and I have inherited all of her information. As soon as I get to bring it all home, I can post a picture of the memorial card that was sent to my grandmother at the time of the funeral.

Thanks again

RE: Compton
Absolutely, I had another contributor say the cemetery had no record but with all the problems the cemetery has had, I have my doubts that they are not buried there. Several family source say they are buried at Woodlawn so I have kept them posted there. I have photos of 4 of the 8 who are buried at Woodlawn. I reposted Stephen's request. Good luck in finding them, take a stick. Red

Lossing's at Woodlawn
Dave, Thanks so much for for taking the time to look for them. I have run into problems finding buried headstones too, started carrying a large stick and hand trowel with me so I can poke around and unearth them. It's like finding buried treasure. Unfortunately, not all cemeteries take good care of their interred. I really appreciate your efforts. Red
