Good morning Doug. This is a misspelled duplicate of one entered in 2013. Could you merge your data over to Elvin Hendrickson? Thanks.

Annie C. C. Smith Alston
Dear Mr. Grover,
I see that you added a photo to the findagrave page for Annie C. C. Smith Alston. Are you a descendant? I've long been interested in the Deseret Alphabet, and in 1869 there was an "Annie Smith" in New York City who was hired by Orson Pratt to transcribe the New Testament into the Deseret Alphabet. I despaired of ever finding this Annie Smith until, with a shot-in-the-dark web search, I found the findagrave page.

Annie Smith wrote a letter (in the Deseret Alphabet) to Pratt's daughter Larinda Marissa Ross Pratt, in Salt Lake City. The letter survives at the LDS Church History Library. The Deseret Alphabet manuscript of the New Testament also survives, though it was never published.

I would be very interested in finding out more about Annie Smith Alston. Did she, perhaps, leave letters or a journal? especially from the 1869 period? And did she leave anything else in the Deseret Alphabet?

Sincerely,
Ken Beesley

Names in Stone
Do you know how to transfer information from "Find a Grave" to the "Names in Stone" website? I notice they are missing a great deal.

Dick Slater
Hi, Doug,

I have a genealogical question for you.

You posted a memorial on FindAGrave.com last year for Richard L. ďDickĒ Slater, who died on Feb. 27, 2013. I am the daughter, Leslie, who is mentioned in the piece. Dick was my father, but he gave me up for adoption by my stepfather, Andre Hockett, when I was about 10 years old. I was born Leslie Louise Slater on October 27, 1967 in Honolulu, HI. My motherís maiden name was Barbara Dean Clark. I had always hoped to reconnect with Dick, but my husband stumbled upon his obituary last week. I had not been contacted by anyone from his new family in Arizona about his passing.

What you may not have known is that Dick was adopted as an infant by Marie Slater Done and John Slater, Jr. I would like to find out who his biological parents were, but am unsure how to go about it. Iíve had no contact with his new family in over 30 years, so I donít where to start. As a genealogist, you must have had some experience in this type of search. Whatever insight you may provide would be much appreciated.

Gratefully,

Leslie [Slater] Hockett Marble

Hey Doug, I was very sad to hear of Aunty Ernestburg's passing, she was a direct relative of Roger's mother. We would very much like to manage her memorial.I added almost same time as you but after yours, I want to add photos, a bio and links to parents. Thanks much for your consideration. I'm also still trying to find out Valerie Anae's burial place still, waiting for her daughters to respond on FB. Thanks again, Jerry and Roger

Hi Doug,

Thank you for deleting the dupes. Moses is my 4th GGF. I have visited his grave...very hard to find. here are some URL's that might interest you:

Who is the John Jr. that you still have a memorial to? I don't see any relationship with the info given.

I'm guessing since you live in SLC, that you are one of my LDS cousins? We also share the same GGG GF David. I am from his son William who remained a gentile and moved to Texas.

Hey Doug, I am still trying to get family to tell me, once I know I will update, I've ask several of our family and they didn't know. I also had added as well a memorial for Aunty Alice, wife of Fa'Amika Anae, this is my Roger's mothers side of family. If possible can you delete your memorial. I have added family photo to mine, as well as links to family, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks kindly,

Jerry

While I am pleased to have a "relative" of the above referenced subject contact me, I must hasten to respond. I am a direct descendant of the subject and know the Camp Ground Cemetery on Jenny Road, Barren County, Ky.
I assure you there is NO proof whatsoever that neither the subject nor is wife are interred there. Most burials in said cemetery are my relatives. I played at said location and proceeded to decorate the graves for decades. How I wish we could be definite. Thank you so much for your input. I welcome the opportunity to work with additional Monroe, Hooper, Glazebrook, etal kin.

Hyrum Ricks
Hi, I have transefered management to his memorial over to you. It is awesome to meet another Cousin. I descend from Thomas E Ricks 1 - Thomas E Ricks 2 who was a brother to Hyrum. Thomas #2 was my Great Great Grandfather, so Hyrum would be my Great Great Grand Uncle. The reason I had management of this memorial is once while on a trip to Rexburg I took pictures of all the Ricks family grave sites and then created the memorials. It will be nice to have a direct descendant manage it instead of me. Thanks, Kay

RE: Transfor recoerd
Will be happy to but I need to know his findagrave memorial number, or where he is buried and your findagrave ID number. If you are new to this you will find his memorial number at the bottom of his memorial and your ID number at the top of your contributor page underneath your name. Thank you. Jan
