Ackerman vs Struchen
Just my brain losing it. Still, call Trinity, (office pnone number is for Calvary, as they handle both cemeteries) and when you find out where he/they are buried, I will get the photo.

They don't have an online database, so get specifics as to what section and lot.

Did Rose Struchen remarry? And if you want Philip's memorial transferred to you, let me know. I only have it due to the relationship with my friend.

My best friend's mother was an Ackerman. I have always said since I moved here that Erie is the biggest little town I have ever lived in. I have literally lived in very, very, very small towns where it seemed fewer people knew or were related to each other, lol.

Are you sure that Grace Inez Struchen is buried in Erie Memorial Gardens? I cannot find her gravestone anywhere. I found a few other Struchens, but not hers.

If you call the office of the Erie Cemetery she will look up the burial info. That gives the parent's names. You can probably request photocopies of the records. She has given them to me in the past. And she is very familiar with Find A Grave and very helpful. I think that her name is Tonya.

Her stone is either buried or she never had one. She is in the section called 3 singles, which means there are no family plots, so she is not buried near any family members.

Mary Struchen
Mary is buried in a section of the cemetery that literally only has maybe 6 stones that aren't buried.

Sorry. I forgot to add the caption that there was no stone. I just added the caption. He is buried on the site between the Pratt & Schauer gravestones.

Strucher gravestones
You are very welcome. I looked for Benjamin's as well, but I didn't have any luck. I will ask at the office the next time that I am at the cemetery. It doesn't appear as if there is a stone for him, or else it may be buried.

I was drawn to these requests because my fiancÚ has Struckers in his family. I am not sure if they are related, but I am sure that they must be somehow.

Brian, do you possibly have any pictures you can post on Aunt Grace's FindAGrave posting you are in charge of.

I have a snapshot of Aunt Grace, Aunt Stella and Aunt Bessie if you would like a copy so you can post them on their individual listings. I noticed also on the listing for G-Grandpa Reed, you don't have Bessie listed. I will have to go back and see where she is buried.

If you would like the pictures so you can post them, let me know what your email address is.

I am Mildred Halloran's oldest daughter. Aunt Bessie was actually her aunt - her mother's sister.

Let me know.

RE: Struchen
Dear Brian,
Here's the Fairview Cemetery record I have. It seems to agree with the death certificate:
Fairview Cemetery Record
STRUCHEN, RUDOLPH JOHN Interment #2354 b. 1872, December 7 d. 1939, October 19 Section T
SOURCE: Fairview Cemetery, online @
As to my connection with the Struchens... I am not closely related to the family, and can claim no direct knowledge of them. When I got hooked on genealogy after my retirement, I was amazed at all the interconnectedness there is between the old families of Erie County. My goal has become to connect as many Erie County residents as possible. I'm not quite sure how the Struchens are related to the Loves, but Kendig, Heidler and Gorenflo are all family connections we have in common.
I've lately become convinced that we're ALL connected, and have reached beyond Erie County to try to prove my point. Even though I have a direct ancestor who was a prisoner at Andersonville, Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis are also in my Ancestry tree, as are a diversity of others...Union, Confederate, slave, free, rich, poor, black, white, Asian, Native American, famous & infamous. (Benedict Arnold is in the tree.)
I enjoy the detective work of making all these connections, so please forgive me for nosing into your ancestors. I don't mean to single you out, only to make you part of a huge "family"

Alice A. Gates - Beaver Center Cemetery
I have taken the photo for Alice A. Gates - although I doubt it will help you much as the stone is VERY worn and difficult to read any dates at all. I've put the full-sized image on the memorial, but I can barely read it.

re Goodenow
Hi Brian!

Hope you do not mind that I have transferred them all to you.

I can not say why his second wife is also in the same cemetery while her second husband was buried elsewhere. However, I have noticed that all three wives are buried in that cemetery. Perhaps he purchased burial plots before he was divorced?

Happy hunting and have a great day.

Kind regards,

Hi! The date I have posted is what appears on his death certificate (which I have added to his memorial). Headstone dates, even on more recent burials, have a shockingly frequent habit of being slightly incorrect. If you have a birth record for him, I would be more than happy to change the birth year.

Tarbel Gates
Hello, I have added Tarbel Gates father to his memorial and since you are family I would be happy to transfer this to you if you would like. It was given to be by Barb who had done some photo's while she was in the area and offered them to me since I seemed to her to know something of the history there. I do and have been able to add a little to some of the story's here. I think that the birthdate was alredy there or I might have taken it from the new family search that is now read only. It has become FamilySearchFamilyTree I will put in a link to what I found and also to some things that will show records and give better information. I am going to transfer this to you. Kay Stephens

Hello Brian,
I am trying to find any information I can about Ada Case Swanson. She is the oldest child of Adelade Pratt Buchner, who died around 1881/82 in Erie county PA.In 1880 they lived in Northeast, Pa. Besides Ada she had 3 other children. One being my grandmother Mary Buchner. If I could find a relative of George W. Swanson I might discover the circumstances of Adelade's death and where she died.

I appreciate any info you may be able to provide.
I Live in Washington State and cannot travel to PA or NY to do research.
