No doubt I wandered across the un-marked line into the Catholic grounds. I've sent them to you in case you can use the spare parts. Thank you! wk

RE: Monica Conlon
Please accept my apology. I did not mean to offend you or your work.

Indeed if you had FOUND the grave, I would very grateful.

My concern is with so-called researchers who are merely staking claims to the deceased, using other publicly available records, without adding any value. It serves no purpose to replicate on this site information which is already readily available.

As I mentioned in my letter, I found it deeply offensive when one 'researcher' claimed my parents burial BEFORE they had been interred.

This is troubling to me because the management of Find-A-grave assigns credit to the first registrant, NOT the actual contributor. They enable copyright violation on certain materials I have written, and also dis-serve the research community.

I am sincerely glad to know of your good intentions, and appreciate your efforts on behalf of everyone who seeks to find information about a departed family member.

I already know when and how my cousin Monica Conlon died in the Cocoanut Grove Fire.

But this site is FIND A GRAVE.

You did not find the grave nor are you helping others to visit the memorials of their family members if you don't include the burial location.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I would rather have your sincere help.

Other contributors on Find A Grave have hijacked my parents, and put them on here BEFORE they were even buried. This made it difficult for me to memorialize my own mother and father, because someone else 'owned' the memorial.

Please respect others. If you have information about the burial location please know that people will be very grateful.

But this service appears to be becoming a contest to see who can add the most graves. And that is something I do not appreciate.

RE: Conrad Schorling
That would be wonderful, Julia!
I have many old photos of him & some postcards & letters from his girlfriend, Mary O'Sullivan. She perished in the fire as well. They had gone out dancing after attending the BC football game. My grandmother stayed to identify Mary after she had already identified her son. Though I never met him, he was always present.

Thank you again!

Conrad Schorling
Hello Julia,

My uncle Conrad Schorling who died in the Coconut Grove fire is buried at Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield, MA. His stone is next to that of his mother & near his sister (my mother). Could you add the cemetery information to his memorial? Currently it shows as unknown.

I added a photo of the stone (which should be retaken once I get a chance to get back to clean it up & reshoot). I also linked him to his parents a while ago.

Robert Noyes
Hi there! Thanks for the note about Robert Noyes, a victim of the Cocoanut Grove Club fire. I created the memorial after researching my bf's family in the Boston area; they include Noyes surnames in that same area. Googling the name led me to mention of him in Lorraine's story. I found her FindAGrave memorial and realized he didn't have his own... so I made one. Thanks for your efforts; as a designer of commercial spaces I think it's important that we remember these events and the people they effect - so that we can try to make sure history does not repeat.

Thank you so much for this memorial, I am having great fun updating it. I tried to get into see her and dozens more of my family at Live Oak over the weekend but they have it locked up. I will have to contact someone to find out how to get in.
Thanks again, most appreciated !!

Graves of 1872 Earthquake Victims
Hi and thanks for adding the memorials. If you are also the one who entered the cemetery, I wondered if you would tweak the location a bit. I am here in Lone Pine as I write and we just left the memorial for the victims up on the hill, just below Mount Whitney. Their cemetery is in Lone Pine rather than Bishop. If you don't have editing ability for the Find A Grave cemetery page for the 4 burials, please let me know and I can send a message to the administrators to just change the town name. Thanks much. John A Hey
Hello Julia,
I have been tying to catch up with my photos but it's hard to do since I keep adding more memorials! I added a marker photo for John and it does shows the date of death as the 29th. He is buried next to John R Hey and John R.'s marker is inscribed
" Father". I added a marker for him as well. Is Lt. Hey a relative? God bless.
