RE: owen sizemore
I guess there is some confusion. I was okay with all 4 photos. the 2 that are there now are the 2 I wanted in front.I was unable to get them in front because there were 4, would only let me organize three. If you remove the 2 that are on there onw, then add the 2 that are documents, then readd the 2 grave stones, if not too much trouble will get them in a great order, if unable to do that, then add however you like. sorry

RE: owen sizemore
first, I don't want you to take down the photos, i was trying to move them in a specific order and i cannot put the close up grave mmarker as second because there are so many pics. i thought if you removed the one and readd it that would work. that is so nice of you. when i get the time probably after first of year, and i learn anything i will share it with you.are you connected to hawns, todds? for that is where i come in at. did they just have the 2 children? thanks so much for you imput, if ever i should not want to do Find A Grave anymore i will transfer any i have to you that you want

Do you have an account? I have all the records I mentioned posted to my profile for him on ancestry, and you could copy them there, saving alot of work. If you don't have an account, let me know.

Aulse Hicks
Dear Michelle-

I was so glad to read your post about Aulse Hicks. I have been trying unsuccessfully to find out what his connection is to Charles Renautus Hicks and honestly, some of the people who have responded to my queries have been downright rude. I know that I do have native american heritage, both through family stories and DNA, but I would dearly love to verify that Aulse is that connection.

Do you have any documentation regarding Aulse and Charles being half-brothers? Any direction you could give me would be so appreciated.

Deborah Carter
Photo of Martin Daniel Hall and Chloe Hendrix
The photo of Martin Daniel Hall and Chloe Hendrix is circulating all over the internet. Photography was not invented until late 1830's. If someone was born in 1770, then no way is this photo of them. This photo looks to be 1860's - 1880's.

As far as I know, Henry Alsept did not have a son named after him.

RE: Henry C Alsept
You are correct on the Patrick thing.
The Alsepts are really Patricks.

merely go to my rootsweb site and browse a bit.

Henry Patrick and Elizabeth Allsup had a son & daughter out of wedlock.
They took on "Alsept" as their last names.

Elizabeth then went and lived with George Stevens. They, too, had two sons out of wedlock. Another Big Clan of descendents!

Martin Hall, Elizabeth Cemetery
Hi Michelle,

You posted a photo on Martin Hall's memorial. Can you tell me who those people are? Martin Hall, Sr., died in 1831, before there could be a photograph of him. Can you tell me the source?

Martin did have a son Martin Daniel Hall, Jr., but he is buried in Illinois. His youngest son was born in 1843 and I think this photo was taken well after 1850 so I don't think it is that Martin Hall either.

Martin Daniel Hall, Jr., is my 3rd great-grandfather.

RE: Gulley family?
Thanks for the reply, Michelle. My Gillies are all in Wolfe Co., and there I have three brick walls, all closely linked. One is MARGARET A. GILLEY (1845-after 1920), who married Samuel C. Gilley (1849-1916). I know enough about him, but not his wife. I'd like to know her maiden name, who her family were. The second is JOSIE (JOANN?) O. GILLEY (1877-1966), who family tradition says was Samuel & Margaret Gilley's child but she probably was not because no census shows her with them. Who's child was she? The third is JOANNNA "JOSIE" GILLEY STIDHAM (1913-?), a Gilley child adopted by the Stidham family. After 1930 she disappears from the census. Uncertain, but she may have married and soon divorced a man named Morris. But where does she go after 1930? No doubt she runs off and marries again. But who and where to?

What these three Gilley's have in common is that they all went to Lincoln Co. OK 1912-20. The two Josie's went with Samuel Henry Stidham, who married the older one and adopted the younger one. Margaret went there in her old age and probably died there after 1920.

There is a 4th Wolfe Co. Gilley who went to Oklahoma. This is JOHN D. GILLEY (1886-1949), who died in Oklahoma. He's a child of Samuel and Margaret above and said to be the older Josie's brother. He was the father of the second Josie. He went to prison in KY for killing a man, and while he was locked up his wife (Martha Williams, 1876-1913) died and young Josie was adopted by the Stidhams. When he gets out he too goes to Lincoln Co. and spends his life there as a farm laborer and a drunkard. Marries again but never claims his child.

Here's my Ancestry page on John D. Gilley, who connects the three I want to know more about:

Do you recognize any of these people? Many thanks for any help--

Gulley family?

Among the families that you are working on, you mention the Gulley family. Is this name also spelled Gilley / Gillie? I'm related to several people of that name in eastern KY and I'm hoping we might have information to share. Many thanks!
