Yea it was $100 when I first found it so I just kept an eye on it and waited for it to go down in price.
I've never used a genealogist before...how are the Wells County ones? I would like to get more pictures/newspaper articles/obits etc. I wonder if they would have stuff like that...

If you search for it on Amazon its there but it's $79.99...they are apparently hard to come by. My mom got me my copy quite a few years ago when it was cheaper...I wonder if a place in Indiana would have them as well.

I use my copy over and over again...that link you sent me was useful as well :)

Yes the book is mostly on the Aeschliman family but it branches out quite a bit to other families that came to America from Switzerland...it's by John H. Baumgartner.

ah yes I see the connection now! :) Our Swiss roots are very prominent in the family...no matter which branch! lol

Do you have the book "The First 100 years"? I have found that very helpful in my genealogy research, I love reading it over and over

Yes I agree the spider web is thickest in Wells County (Bluffton) area...I have most of it worked out though, took me a few years but I was able to get most of the families untangled :)

My maiden name was Winter, you are correct. My mom married a man with the last name Luebke but divorced him and then married my father a few years later.

May I ask, who were your grandparents? Just trying to make more of a connection :)

My grandma had 4 children, the 3 boys and my mom, Nancy :)

I suppose with every marriage there's ups and downs but sounds like your daughter has a keeper...as do I :) Looking back on it now I can't believe that's how we met and how fast it all went but I just followed my gut and it steered me right :)

I tried looking for a chart last night and didn't really find one I liked that was easy to use, I'm gonna have to keep searching.

It is definitely a spider web for sure!!! I know when I take my notes I have to be very clear on who is connected to who or I get so confused and lost I have to start all over and that gets time consuming!

There is a lot of family still here in IL although it's mostly from my Grandpa Lauder (my mom's dad)..the majority of Grandma's family is back in IN where she was born. I have so much information on my Grandma's side I'm slowly working on Grandpa's side but with limited information I don't get very far. I have a cousin who is working on Grandpa's side as well and I believe she is getting further along than I am but I don't have many opportunities to get ahold of her and talk.

I think I need to change that and get together with her! :)

It seems like more and more people are meeting online successfully...my mom had a hard time with it as well but we just celebrated 12 years a week ago so I'm pretty sure her worries are gone :)

I will have to scan the internet and see if I can find a chart like the one you are describing, that would be wonderful in adding to my family history if nothing other than to connect so and so to so and so lol

So I would be correct in saying that my grandmother is/was your second cousin as well?

Wow that's amazing! It is a very small world that's for sure! Thanks for sharing that info with me, I don't know that I ever noticed the connections! :) So that would make you and I what kind of cousins? I get so confused with the second cousin, third cousin thing lol

That's quite alright :) I would have gladly linked Uncle Loren and Great Grandpa if I could have :) The Aeschliman's are definitely all related there. That's amazing that we are related...a ways down the family tree but still share the same roots :) I have been working on the Aeschliman genealogy since 2005... I have so much information...I can go all the way back to the 1600's...its definitely time consuming but very rewarding :)

In regards to John and Loren Aeschliman memorials
I received your correction suggestion about adding Loren Aeschliman (who is my great uncle) to John Aeschliman's memorial (my great grandpa)...unfortunately I cannot add Uncle Loren because I do not have his memorial, a Sara Taylor does and with find a grave you can only add the parents and/or spouse to the memorials you manage, so Sara would have to add my great grandpa's memorial page to Uncle Loren's memorial
Hope this helps some
Thank you for contacting me though :)

Have you ever read the "Foust" book by Dr. Faust? Doesn't explain name changes, but does do a lot for the history!
