RE: Donald Grant
I think at this point I should change the location to be "Cremated-Location of Ashes Unknown" until such time as someone can give me updated information. Unfortunately, even a death certificate probably won't be of any help, since under "disposition of remains" it will most likely only say "cremated". The crematory may be listed (Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary) but that's about it. I wish this could have been a positive result.

Best regards,

I claimed your photo request but I'm not sure his ashes were inurned here in Inglewood. Their online grave locator indicates that his remains were not removed from there, however I have in the past seen errors on their website regarding cremations. Usually when it says "cremation only", the body was cremated at Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary but there was no burial. I will ask at the office before we make this assumption. I'll let you know what I find out.

Best regards,

RE: George Alexander Ogilvie
You are welcome. We have found several dozen of these - all from the same source, and all really buried at Tahoma or Willamette.

Freeman and Johnston in the Park Lawn Cemetery
Some additional information about your photo requests...
(1) When looking for Herbert Freeman's headstone, I found the headstone of Thomas H Freeman and his wife Jessie S Hedderson Freeman just a few yards away. I don't know if they are related to Herbert, but I added memorials for them anyway.
(2) the headstone of Arthur and Amy Johnston shows that Gertrude Kirch Johnston, wife of George Johnston, is buried with them. I have added a memorial for her also.
(3) The cemetery office advised me, in an email dated today, of the following: "Hannah Freeman is buried in Section 'C' Tier '9' Lot '8'. She was buried on Nov. 7, 1939 at the age of 72.
She is buried in a Johnston family lot."
(4) I would be more than happy to transfer management of the memorials for Gertrude Kirch Johnston, Thomas Freeman and Jessie Hedderson Freeman to you.
All the best,

RE: William James Ward Photo Request
I have been calling the caretaker's number to learn the layout but haven't received a call back from the messages I've left. There are no section markers in this cemetery so I have been walking the whole thing each time I go. I will keep looking for you, but I will leave the request as unclaimed so that others may also look for you when they are there. If they are there somewhere we will find 'em.

RE: William James Ward Photo Request
Yes, an error. As I was looking for your Ward family today walking the cemetery for a few hours I realized that the new findagrave app has limitations. I couldn't edit in the app.mWhen i clicked on an image. I did not find the Wards you wanted headstones for. There are thousands of graves and without a location it was a tough project. sorry, no luck.

G.R. Townley
RE: Mount Pleasant Cemetery
Hi Brian,

Sorry about my confused thinking concerning Matilda's maiden name. I got myself turned inside out going back and forth between the Stewart and Hobbs families. Now looking again at the scribbled notes I made while looking through details for both families, I recognize that Matilda [Henderson] Hobbs was the niece of Rachel [Ralston] Stewart.

Sorry again for creating confusion where there was none.

All the best,

Hi Brian,

I've added the photos to the additional names you've noted in those photos, and have added another 2 photos to each of the Hobbs family members. I've also added approximate GPS co-ordinates for both the Hobbs and Stewart graves.

The Hobbs monument sits upon two adjacent grave plots ... 0-3-1 as well as the 0-4-1 already noted. There are four other members of this family buried in these, but the details are all but impossible to capture in photos due to the marble colouring. Their exact relationships are not all directly indicated. These others are:
James Hobbs
b. about 1819, Cornwall, England
d. March 24 1894, Toronto
buried in 0-3-1

Mary Hobbs
(wife of James / maiden name not stated)
b. June 7, 1809, Cornwall, England
d. August 24, 1881, Toronto

Benjamin John Hobbs,
(who is apparently Samuel and Matilda's son)
b. 6 April 1886 Parkdale, Ontario
(Parkdale was later annexed into Toronto's west-end.)
9. May 30, 1979, Mississauga, Ontario

Sarah Gertrude [Anthony] Hobbs
(wife of Ben J. Hobbs)
b. Dec 5, 1887, Parkdale, Ontario
d. June 18, 1968, Toronto
Some of the details above are the result of checking both Ancestry and/or FamilySearch to clarify what's either missing or unreadable from the monument.

There are obituaries for Benjamin and Gertrude in the Toronto Star (May 31 1979 & June 20 1968, respectively) that gives some details of their survivors.

One last thing: You seem to understand that Matilda's married name was Ralston, however it was actually Henderson. Ralston was apparently the maiden name of Matilda's mother Jane, from what I've seen on Ancestry.

I hope this will be helpful in your research.

Best regards,

Oh and Brian, PLEASE leave the notation at the top of his bio that I wrote:

It seems that there are several "ladies" that have so much time on their hands (not walking cems, etc) that they have decided to Harass other findagravers quoting "findagrave" rules/guidlines.......insted of adding their own memorials or pics or info (which IS) what findagrave IS.

ONE of the particular things they are now harassing for is how John's name is...they will say, can't use all of his name in the search bar...BUT IF THEY GET AHOLD OF YOU AS YOU NOW HAVE HIS MEMORIAL__TELL THEM "PER FINDAGRAVES RULES" HIS MEMORIAL IS ADDED EXACTLY AS IT APPEARS ON HIS TOMBSTONE!! AND THAT IS FINDAGRAVES RULE SO CHANGE NOTHING!

It is sad that even here there has to be "ONE OF THEM"

Hi Brian, found someone else for you...their grandson John Tombesi...I made his memorial and pic and am going to transfer him to you.
