Love line
Most of mine are located in the Texas area and some did move to Oklahoma and New Mexico but that is as far as I've been able to get thus far. Will never give up though! Thank you for keeping me in mind. Samuel Ervin Love is the one I am interested in learning more about.

No ma'am, not that I have found so far and felt confident in transferring them to you. I wish you the best of luck and if ever you have Caldonia Elizabeth Love crop up, please let me know. Her husband was Samuel Ervin Love.

Best always,

No ma'am, I am not related that I know of to this family. My intentions have always been to make sure people are not forgotten and when someone finds one of their "wayward" family members and I've done the memorial, it is my pleasure to transfer them over to the family. This is what findagrave.com should always be about.

Sincerely,

Tricia

Teresa, I could transfer her memorial to you if you like, she was actually a family friend to be honest. Her family is still close. But if you want I could transfer the memorial?

RE: Bays Family
Hello Teresa,

I don't know if I answered you or not regarding George Washington Bays and his parents.

His parents are: John Bays III (b. c1762 in PA; d. 1855 in KY), and Sarah/Sally Owen (b. c1776 in PA; d. 1860 in KY.

There was another George Washington Bays (b. 1820 VA; d. 1870 KY) who was nephew of my g'g'grandfather. His parents were Isham Bays and Mary Polly Taylor.

Hope this helps.

Elizabeth

RE: Baze/Bays Family
These people do not appear to be in my family line however I did a little research giving the information you provided... it appears to me that Joseph was born in Louisiana, the son of Peter BAYS (born about 1812 in Davidson County, Tennessee) and Delila SINKS (born about 1815 in Louisiana)

This Joseph BAYS (aka Joseph B "McKinley" BAYS) married Mary Ann Chomard HICKS (she was born about 1844 Tennessee) on 15 Apr 1865 in Denton County, Texas.

Joseph BAYS and Mary Ann Chomard HICKS had at least 9 children some were:

* Melinda Ann "Annie" BAYS (born 20 Dec 1877 in Hamilton County, Texas)
* John W BAYS (born about 1869 Texas, he later moved to Oklahoma)
* Fredric G BAYS (born 1871 in Texas)
* Lucinda (born about 1875 in Texas)
* Malinda A (born about 1877 in Texas)
* Martha BAYS (born about 1879 in Texas)
* James Matthew BAYS (born 22 Dec 1880 in Texas)
* Mack Jemps BAYS (born 19 Oct 1882 in Texas)
************************************************
The Fredric G BAYS of the above mentioned family married Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" [Maiden Name Unknown]; she was born about 1874 in Texas.

They had at least 8 children:

* James BAYS (born about 1897 in Texas)
* Augustus "Gussie" BAZE ((born about 1899 in Texas)
* Albert R BAYS (born about 1901 in Texas)
* Jessie M BAYS (son) (born about 1903 in Texas)
* William "Willie" BAYS (born about 1904 in New Mexico)
* Archie BAYS (born about 1906 in New Mexico)
* Lola May BAYS (born about 1909 in New Mexico)
* Herbert BAYS (born about 1913 in New Mexico)
**********************************************
Census Enumerations that Frederic G BAYS was counted and the location of the census include:
1880 - Lampasas County, Texas
1900 - Coleman County, Texas
1910 - High Rolls, Otero, New Mexico
1920 - Alamogordo, Otero, New Mexico
1930 - Alamogordo, Otero, New Mexico
1940 - Alamogordo, Otero, New Mexico
**********************************************
If this is indeed the family that you seek, you can find more information on the rootsweb website at http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=linda_newbrough&id=I3431

Happy hunting to you

Hi Tereasa,
I'm so sorry for responding so late, I have been out of state for a while and away from findagrave.
Lucy Bogart father married a cousin of my fathers, her last name was Horton/Sherman I do not know her first name, I have been unable to find in any records, the only info I have is she married Benjamin Bogart in Texas, they had a son Floyd and the daughter Lucy.
Good luck in your search.

Betty Finley
Elijah Bays
Teresa,

I think you have a very good point that Clarissa may be the Bays children's mother. Looking back at the order in which the children are listed makes me think she is. Here is why: all but one of the Cooksey children are listed first, then the Bays children, then a baby named Cornelius Cooksey. The only logical reason they would be listed in that order is his children first, hers second, theirs last.
A way to check it out is to find some of the Cooksey children in the 1880 or later censuses and compare where their mother was born. Clarissa was born in Ohio according to the 1850 and 1860 Censuses.
Interestingly, Clarissa is in Denton County in 1860 with the Bays children except Joseph listed with her but no Cooksey children.

Betty Finley
Elijah Bays
Teresa,

I am not related to the Bays family but I have done a little research.

Joseph, Joel, Margaret, and Elijah Bays (spelled Baize in the record) are living with the Andrew Cooksey family in Johnson Co, Arkansas in the 1850 US Census. It would appear that both of Elijah's parents are dead. In the 1860 Denton Co, TX Census, Joel, Margaret, and Elijah are living with Clarissa Cooksey, Andrew's wife. In the 1880 Denton County, TX Census, Elijah's father's birthplace is given as Virginia, mother's as Ohio. Clarissa Cooksey was born in Ohio according to the 1880 US Census, Denton Co, TX. Therefore, I feel very confident that Clarissa Cooksey was Elijah's mother's sister. Therefore, the only hint I can give you is to find a marriage license for Andrew Cooksey and a Clarissa. Good hunting!

Betty

Sure - you are welcome to use the photos for your family history project.

The large KELLY stone is the family stone marker for the plot; Allie Mae and W.L. (Doc) are the two buried there.

Elaine

RE: Cape Family
Hi Teresa - How are things going? The" Hix" and the "Hicks" are all the same family. Cape is pronounced just like the cape you would wear. And yes,the "Cape's, Bays' & Hicks' are all interrelated very much. Sometimes it's hard to keep them straight. Thx Pat

RE: Dr. Francis Marion Hicks
Hi Teresa.

It is very possible that the birthdate for this person is incorrect. My information for the memorial came from an old cemetery transcript which has proven to be sometimes inaccurate. I am not related to this person. I would suggest that you contact the San Antonio Genealogical Society at (210) 342-5242. They may be able to help you further.

RE: James William Bays and mother, Alice Bays
You're welcome, Teresa.

Maybe the location is wrong? There are no stones with the name of Bays on them next to where Alice is supposed to be. On one side was Soto, and I forget what was on the other stone, but it wasn't a Bays. On rare occasions, the Green Hills grave locator is wrong. Rare, but it happens. I will check with the office and make sure the location is correct. Maybe you should hold off on copying the photo to other places, until I get back with you. I will try to have an answer for you (or perhaps a new photo) by Saturday or Sunday.

Regards,
Bonnie

Alice Bays
Hello. If the information regarding the location of Alice's grave is correct, then her grave is unmarked. Please refer to the photo I have added.

I am sorry this was not a more positive outcome.

Bonnie
