RUSHING - Joel, Susanna, Martha Ann
They are transferred. I am sure you will take good care of them.

I was just excited to find this quaint little cemetery in the middle of the farmer's field and that he had left access.

Blessings and Happy Hunting

RE: William Bell
The New Bedford Cemetery appears to date back to the original settlers of the area. It sits on a knoll at the point of a 'y' in the road. There is a clear section at the point of the 'y' that a church may have stood, with the cemetary behind it. Families are burried together in their own plot.

Many of the markers are made of marble and haven't weathered well over the years, which make them unreadable. Many have fallen from their base and have are overcome from sod. The cemetary is kept mowed, but not well groomed.

I found 2 BELL headstones. William, which is the one you requested, and John T, which stands directly to the right of William. There is space on this plot that other family members may have been laid to rest. If so, the markers have not withstood the years.

William Bell
The Hopewell Cemetary in New Bedford, PA is quite old. This stone is of marble and has weathered down the inscription. Oct is the only legible wording left.

There is also a John Bell; Died March 24, 1868 at the age of 23 years, 9 mos.

RE: John WARD of Wyandot Co, Ohio
I am really behind on checking my messages!

My ancestor, Margaret F Ward, was probably John Ward's daughter. She married Paul Suber in 1840. There is a family tree on that lists these children of John and Nancy Ward: Jane (unk birth/death), Margaret F (1806-1888) Elizabeth (1807-1846), Jesse (1818-1870)and James Franklin (1825-1865).

My grandmother wrote on her family tree notes that Margaret Ward had a brother James and a sister Betsy who married Elijah Burson. She also wrote that Margaret had another sister, but didn't know her name.

All three of these siblings are listed in the 1850 Census record in Richland Twp, Wyandot Co, OH along with John and Nancy Ward - first the Burson Household, then John & Nancy Ward, then James Ward, then the Stephens household(Paul Suber's mother who had remarried), and then Paul Suber's household. They are all on the same page of the census record.

So I don't have proof that my ancestor Margaret Ward was John Ward's daughter, but I have anecdotal evidence of it.

Do you think you are related to this family? I would love to know more about John and Nancy Ward. I was thrilled to find the cemetery in Richland Twp last year and to find the Ward headstones. Since some of the Suber ancestors are also buried in that cemetery, it seemed even more likely that John Ward was Margaret's father.

RE: Thanks for the GEROW pics!
Hi Robin - He is probably one of the graves you can't read - just going by his birth year. There were so many Gerow's in this cemetery it would be hard to tell which one he was. Under the cemetery sign at the entrance it actually says something like "this cemetery is maintained by the Gerow Family Association".

I'm sorry, but I don't have any more information. I was up by this cemetery for a weekend with my family. It's about an hour away from me, otherwise, I'd go back.

Good Luck!

RE: Thans for Prudence REED photos!
You're very welcome. I'm glad to help. You asked about her date of death. It sure looks like 1883 in the photo. I may go out there again soon and double-check in different light.

RE: Add John James to your Virtual 49th Infantry
Thanks so much for the head's up! We have added him to our virtual.

Our great great uncle, Jackson Lee, was killed at Chickamauga with the 49th Ohio. His body was never recovered.

RE: William REED b. 1806 my 4th g-grandfather
I would be glad to exchange information. Do you have any information on the Dotys? (William's wife)? There is a Jane Doty also buried with William and Prudence. I don't know if it is her sister or mother. Also I can't link to children. Only spouses and parents. You'll have to do that. Thanks

RE: James and Neusbaums - thanks!
Catherine and John James have the only marker. The cemetery records are still be sorted out so it is not clear if John James is actually buried at Grand View. I posted a photo to Alma Neusbaum showing the four graves. I can post the same photo to Della James and Milton Neusbaum if you request it.
