Thank you for photographing the gravestone of Lawrence & Viola Felder in All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery. I appreciate it!

RE: Thomas Jones Question
Hello Claude,

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. I had a chance to get back up to the research center and look at the book. Unfortunately, it has 250-plus pages and no index.

Have you tried searching the Macoupin County Genweb page? It might have something on Thomas Jones.

RE: Thomas Jones Question
Hi Claude,

The only thing it say is that he died the last year of the Civil War.

Unfortunately, the names in the book are not indexed, and it is a 235-page book, so I did not search the entire thing.

re:Melvin photo
Hi, I just loaded a photo of Melvin's headstone to his memorial page. This time of year the stones that face north, barely if at all, get any direct sunlight. Melvin's is one of those; plus he is at the west end of GGNC and the sun there sets behind the western hills or fog very early. I put it in a folder to redo in the late spring.      Please do not hesitate to request a redo then. He seems to have been a gentleman. We need more of them.~rp

Hi, we traded emails over a year ago in regards to George jones and his daughter Mary Ella Jones Crowder. Are you still looking for them in Woodburn Cemetery in Bunker Hill? Sorry I have been quite ill.

Sorry, his name was on the back of T.l. Jones and Clara Jones. The other Jones' were in the next row, quite near.

RE: Oliver C Jones
There was a William Jones, wife Cassandra Jones, and on one side another wife, Margaret Jones on the front and side of the stone that Oliver C. Jones had his info on the back of it. Next to this stone was the little stone with Oliver C. Jones on it. I will add William, Cassandra, and Margaret some time tonight with the photos. That area did have some other Jones in it. I would be happy to look if you are missing some.

I had a chance to check the cemetery records at the Jersey County Historical County. Here's what I found:

According to Brighton Township Cemeteries and Family Histories, Macoupin Co., 1800 - 1985, compiled by June Wilderman and Jean Halcom, 1986

Miles Station Cemetery
Lot 38
Thomas Jones, 73 years, no dates
Tabitha Jones (wife), 1827 - 1866
Ellen W. Jones, 1859 - 1881

Sorry, but I could not find anything about the Crowders. Have you tried contacting the Macoupin County Historical Society?

RE: Lillie Fischer grave picture
It was no problem. Just so you know I added a memorial for a Peter Fischer. He was buried near Lillie.

RE: F. Blackwell
The sources of my burial info for that cemetery are: a survey of abandoned Jersey County cemeteries completed by Elaine Witt in the early 1970s, the book "There the Heart Is, A History of Brighton, Illinois, 1826 -1964," and personal records of individuals. The last actually applies only to one burial, that of Marie Oertel.

We could not find one, and the cemetery is in rough shape. Lots of trees down and lots of underbrush. We are trying to get permission to go in and clean it up, so we can look for more stones. We found about half of them.

Did you see that we found Hannah Blackwell's stone?

I will be happy to transfer management of this memorial to you, but I'd like to hold off long enough to visit the cemetery. We've finally located it. We just haven't had a chance to get out there yet.

RE: John Bielec
The section they are referring to is Section O.
The Allegheny County Historical Society plus a few other interested parties, including myself, photographed every marker in secion O and I don't see John Bielec listed. That doesn't mean he isn't buried there, it just means he either did not have a marker or it is unreadable at this time.

RE: Other family members buried there
The ladies in the office have always been more than willing to help me search for headstones. They have 2 books I look through to find specific graves. I don't know if they have a policy as far as open searches. One other cemetery I went to told me that they will only do searches for 2 people per visit unless I wanted to pay.
Send me your list and I'll try to get back over there in the next few days.

RE: Josiah Blackwell
We've photographed the stones in most of the Jersey Co. cemeteries & I don't have a record for Fielding or Hannah Blackwell. We've also done a lot in Greene Co. & they're not there either. Sorry. I don't know anything about the Blackwell family.

PLEASE use the "Edit" tab at the top of the memorial for any requests/additions, etc. I know you gave me memorial #'s but it's so much easier & faster for me if you use the "Edit" tab.

Thanks, Diane

RE: New Jones in Miles Station Cemetery
I've posted all the readable stones in that cemetery. There were at least 4 that we could not make anything out on and I entered them under Unknown for the last name.

Two of those were very close to some of the other Jones stones so could very well be the 2 that you just posted. But there's no way of making out even a number on those stones. Very badly worn.

You can look at those 2: "Unknown 04" and "Unknown 03" and see what you think.
