RE: Thank You

Thank you for posting all of the obituaries so very quickly. I think they are all complete for that cemetery.

Thank you so much for filling in my missing piece. I have added Marjorie E. Vale Leeham's fist husband.
This was a nice unexpected piece of information.

RE: Thank you
Then I create a Memorial only to have it be a duplicate. It is such a waste of time, and trouble for another member who takes the time to tell me about the duplicate.

My reply:

It is not a waste of time. I have made my share of duplicates too over the 10 years I have been here! At least you are deleting yours when asked. Time is being wasted, when I wait the 30 days for a member to delete a duplicate and then have to forward the duplicated memorial SAC with a link to the original to the volunteer to delete the duplicate or merge it with the original. I understand that each volunteer gets hundreds of emails a day about duplicated memorials that need to be deleted or merged with the original. Since Find A Grave joined with Ancestry, six more volunteers have been added to do this task. Now that is wasted time just because members refuse to delete their duplicates.

There are members who are duplicating your memorials too....this goes both ways. You know nothing about that. With the downed economy, there's some members storing their genealogy on Find A Grave and not searching for an original memorial at all and have dozens of duplicates. You can only send 20 SAC a week to one member.

Go to the national cemetery profile page...the cemetery you usually work with...and click on "view all interments"....start with the "A" and look for the duplicates. If you find one, send the last one made a SAC stating that the memorial appears to be a duplicate and give the number of the original memorial so the member can check for themselves. There is a little box to check for you to get a copy of the email that is sent. Send the SAC and save your copy. If the duplicate isn't deleted in 30 days, forward to Edit at Keep that email sent and check after a couple of weeks to see that it gets deleted. Once the entire cemetery is duplicates...all 90 days go back to "view all interments" and on the dark blue bold line at the top of the list the is "ALL NAMES" with a drop down for 90 days. Look at the cemetery now with only those added in the last 90 will only be a few in a large cemetery and none in a small one.

In the guidelines located on the left side of any memorial under the link "Help with Find A Grave", this is explained more in detail. If you run into an ill-mannered angry member, don't "get in it" with him but forward the email to Edit with the subject line "Nasty Gram from a duplicating member" and let the subject be handled by them and let it alone and move on.

I hope this helps with the big picture. It is not a waste of time for you or me.

RE: Thank you

There is a delay between the time you make a memorial and it is entered...and you don't realize you have made a duplicate.

There is a delay between the time I SAC about a duplicate and the member gets the SAC....I have noticed up to 24 hrs on that one.

I guess the folks managing the website are doing the best they can do.

You are doing the best you can. Thanks.

I am trying to the best I can. So, everything is OK with me.

Thank you for submitting the memorials from the National Cemeteries.

Thank you for deleting the duplicates as I know that the volunteers really appreciates you deleting them instead! :)

I've just looked over the memorials and I have to tell you that I really like what you've done. I like the professional, narrative way you've presented the birth and death information. You have definitely enhanced the memorials. Thank you.

Jeremiah Shook

Hello Lee,

Thank you very much for adding my suggested information to the memorial you created for Jeremiah. Again, thank you for creating the memorial for him, and including the photo of his grave marker.

Your transfer offer is appreciated, but not necessary. Just wanted to add some data, and link him to his parents, which you have now done.

Best wishes,

RE: Hello
THANK YOU for being a cemetery walker, and for taking on the tedious work of entry!!!! And, I love the term Findagrave-aholic - it certainly describes me on the other side of the work.

Over 48+ years my database has grown quite huge, and I try to fill in the blanks whenever possible, and leave flowers everywhere so all have at least one.

By the way Pat Cronin's wife, Melissa, is in the IOOF Cem., as Melissa Douglas, and is buried some distance away.

I'm very sorry you are not a relative. Grace

RE: Transfers
Thanks for transferring the father and son, Paul Carnapas Jr and Paul Carnapas Sr. I wondered whether the mother, Evelyn Carnapas, was buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott also. She died in 2002, just a year before her husband and they had buried their son their in the 1950's.

Thanks for adding the marriage and parental info to their bios. I sent a little info via the SAC system as well.

Happy to meet another cat lover. I'll bet those Persians are beautiful. Mine are rescues; just ordinary cats; but lovely just the same.

Take care,

The notes beneath the photos are not always correct. I have no idea who provides those noted except the person who provided the photos. I go by census, marriage, obit, family records, bible records, and archives of many sorts. Also, the records of the children which help also.

Thank you for the help on findagrave. I have sent you a few obits.

My regards.
