hello. I've photographed every headstones that I could find in this cemetery in an effort to fulfill your request but have not found the Vayette family. Granted, there are some that are difficult to read but they are in the older section and would pre-date the headstones you seek. Sorry.

Slattery - Calvary Cemetery; Greenfield, MA
Good Evening,

I have been trying to track down the William & Catherine Slattery that you had requested a photo of but have not been able to find them yet. However, today I came across another Slattery headstone and have added several names and photos. I will continue to look for the other headstone but wanted to let you know in case they fit into your research.

Henry Greeno Burke
Henry Greeno Burke is my Great Grandfather George Gerald Burke's brother. Patrick and Margaret were their parents.

How are you related to them?

Masao Fukumoto
I also found these graves and recognized the same differences as stated in the previous post. I did take pictures of the graves of Misao and Kazuo. If you would like to see these pictures for verification, just send me an email or message with a return email address and I will send them to you.

RE: Mililani
If you search for the Fukumoto names on the Mililani cemetery page it should come up with the ones I found. I added them when I first went back in September. You'll see a marker for Eddie and Yutaka, and marker for Kazuo and Misao. Those two markers are next to each other in Section Q2, Block 28. In the wide shot of both markers you can see the little cement location marker that says "28" on it. I'm not sure what the lot numbers are for them. But if Masao is lot 11 then he would be close by.

To the right of those two Fukumoto markers is a blank space of grass before the next set of markers, so maybe that's Masao's lot and there's just no marker.

Also, you'll find two other Fukumotos I happened to find: James and Sadayoshi, in Section D.

Also, it totally slipped my mind to take a photo that showed the two Maeshiro markers next to each other. I can still do that if you wish.

RE: Mililani

I was able to find Lillian's marker in Mililani. She shared a marker with Yoko Maeshiro. There was another Maeshiro stone next to them, with Yozen and Kamato Maeshiro. There was something a little funky with the section locations however. While Lillian's marker was next the little cement marker that identified block 93, the metal flower urns in front of her marker indicated it was block 102. Completely by accident I stumbled upon another Maeshiro (Yoshiko) who was around block 89 and not even close to being next to Lillian, but was marked as being in block 93. It's hard to explain without showing you in person, but it was interesting to say the least.

On that note, there is still no marker for Masao Fukumoto in the location you've given. Is it possible there is just no headstone? The other Fukumotos in that area (Eddie, Yutaka, Kazuo, and Misao) have markers. Maybe Masao is buried there, but never had a marker placed. Also, since Masao and Misao are similar names is it possible that the office people have confused the two names?

I'm always glad to help. Just let me know if you need anything else.

RE: Fukumotos in Mililani Memorial Park
You're welcome! The photos were no trouble to obtain at all, especially since you had provided plot locations for everyone.

Fukumotos in Mililani Memorial Park

I just fulfilled some requests you submitted for Mililani Memorial Park. There was a problem in locating Masao Fukumoto. In the area of the plot number you gave (Section Q, Block 28, Lot 11), there is no Masao Fukumoto (1924-2000), but four other Fukumotos: Kazuo (1906-1985), Misao (1916-2006), Eddie (1913-1977), and Yutaka (1920-1989). There are actually two Q sections, Q1 and Q2. I checked both areas and the Fukumotos mentioned above are in Section Q2. There were no Fukumotos in block 28 of Section Q1. I also came across two other Fukumotos in Section D (James and Sadayoshi). I posted names and photos of everyone I found and can transfer them to you if you wish.

Thanks for the transfers. I have added information I gathered today and made the links since I figured out how everyone was related. Not too simple but a good challenge for a rainy day here in Western North Carolina. Thanks, Steve

Thanks for the Murasky headstone photo(s). There are a bunch of them in the same plot. I am only very distantly connected but will do research on all of them, so I could make links and add information. Are you willing to transfer those you added to Find A Grave? If so, I will make requests. Thanks, Steve

I was roaming the site and notice your remark about finding it hard to get contrast on a stone.
I have had good luck with water and waiting for the sun to get a perpendicular angle to the stone, this will cast a better shadow in the lettering. The water will make the stone look darker. Sometimes it is better to just put it on the letters and sometimes just the opposite. You'll have to try and see what works best for you.

Good luck on you next hard one. - al

I could not find James Burke's headstone but will go back later this week to determine where he is located.

I found a Thomas and Mary Burke in the same section/block now on Memorial# 72713722.

Momoko...thank you so much for tombstone photos, your time & effort are greatly appreciated. When searching Find A Grave for your ancestors sometimes I have just had to put initials instead of full first name, but I have had a lot of luck on this site. Good Hunting! Gay
