Hello Kathleen: My name is Richard Evans in Gilbert AZ. My 4G grandfather was Zadock Evans. You contributed the info on his wife Arcada and wondered if you have any other info about her. We are stuck with her. My line includes their son William P , his son James Poole, his son William Adolphus, his son Agustus Adolphus (my grandad). We are linked to Tomlinson, Yarnall, Ellis also through Zadocks children. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Richard

grave look ups and photos
according to obits for Esther Marie (Baker) Peck and Charles Daniel Baker it says they are buried in the Mountain View Cemetery. Can you confirm this? Esther is Leon's (# 71870737) wife. Charles is Esther's brother. Can you get pics of Leon, Esther and Charles' headstones. Please and thank you.

the birth records I saw gave Malaga as birthplace. Appreciate your thoroughness. I am the same way and wish there was a place for edit/links to include sources. Would you kindly add his father Johannes/John J. Riemenschneider who was a shoemaker and died in 1886 Malaga. (wish I knew where he is buried) Mother's maiden name found Peppel, Pappel and Pepple. Both parents born Germany.
and that William's three siblings are also at Malaga cemetery...Maria, John Casper and Gertrude.
again, thanks for your efforts for accuracy on findagrave!

William Conrad Riemenschneider
W.C. (William Conrad) birth record found on familysearch.org. I am happy to comply to verify so that he is linked to his mother and also info is placed on his bio. See if you can get link
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-23315-6386-14?cc=1932106 or this link
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XDTW-Q6P.

If you go back and look at all your edits/links that you accepted it will show who sent the link to incorrect parents' memorials. However as I said those didn't marry until 1881. I appreciate that you haven't forgotten William and that this will give you source info. You can also find William Conrad on the 1880 census with parents John J and Catherine https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M8S9-LS3
and on the 1930 census with his sister Gertrude with whom he shares the headstone.

RE: Alfred Sherman at Gettysburg #71679895
Hi Kathleen,

I don't have much on him, sadly.

What I have comes from a 3-volume reference set of books by Travis W. and John W. Busey, entitled "Union Casualties at Gettysburg: A Comprehensive Record." Pub. in 2011 by McFarland & Company, Jefferson, NC.

The entry for Alfred Sherman reads:

SHERMAN, ALFRED T.
Enlisted 21 September 1861 at Florence as a Corporal
Age at Enlistment: 37
Reduced to the ranks on an unknown date.
Killed on July 1.

(Reduced to the ranks means he was demoted back to Private)

Busey and his son, Travis, are, by all accounts, very solid and respected researchers. John Busey has at least 2 previous books on the subject of the burials at Gettysburg, one of which I use all the time,

"The Last Full Measure: Burials in the National Cemetery at Gettysburg"
Hightstown, NJ: Longstreet House, 1988

Hope this helps!

Regards,
Karl

reply from ORVF, links to Nicholas' wife's memorial which shows they married in 1881 which proves further that William is not their son since born in 1871. I resent link to his mother Catherine. thanks!

Hi Kathleen, yes, if you would look at Gertrude's memorial 27657389 you will see a note that she is buried with her brother William. And my research verifies this IS her brother William, children of Johannes/John J. Riemenschneider and Catherine Peppel/Pepple. Have you already contacted the other contributor? His middle name is Conrad and he appears in Barnesville obituary as son of John and Catherine. Died January 3, 1960. Please let me know what you find because I'd like to see him linked to his mother Catherine's memorial as I don't know yet where his father John is buried. He died in 1886, in case you have any Monroe County cemetery records. Thanks very much for getting back to me so quickly.

RE: Hopcraft Family
Hi Kathleen,

Sorry for the delay. I haven't been getting emails all the time from this website.

My 2nd great grandfather was William Base Hopcraft who was a brother to Wallace Hopcraft. I don't really know anything about William or his family. He was crushed by a load of lumber in 1910.

I think we must be very distant cousins. Which one of Wallace's kids does your husband descend from?

Hopcraft Family
Hi,
I was just wondering how your husband is related to the Hopcraft's (I noticed that you put a flower on Wallace Hopcraft's page). My maternal grandmother was a Hopcraft.

Not the best picture of the memorial stone for Leva Baker. Sorry. The stone seems to be discolored. Had to even read with the naked eye.

RE: Benjamin W. Martin #127223065
Hi Kathleen
It has been awhile since I did Mr Martin so just glancing I would say his information came from his obit & the fact that his wife is also there...
remember when requesting a transfer to do the edit tap so I don't have to look for your number & there are NO mistakes. Someone once sent me a number & it was not correct. There was nothing I could do, why the edit tap is so good.
He may not have a headstone but I could 'which' around his wife's marker to see if there are anymore buried there next time I am down that way
Neosho has a good libary so they may too have an obit for Mr Martin
If I can help w/any of your research please just ask.

Hi Kathleen, I got the information from friends who have been there. I've been there and couldn't get past the front door. It's like trying to get into Fort Knox. Rude, unresponsive people, I don't even bother any longer.

RE: Chapel of the Pines Crematory
Kathleen,
I apologize for what you experiencing with this issue. I completely forgot about Chapel of the Pines until your message but here is what happened and what the new plan is. Over a year or so ago I went there with a list of 16 names and met with the lady's in the office. They told me that no one has ever been granted permission to search and take photos there. I then asked and was able to meet Mr. Chun and after quite a while of persistent pleading I was able to persuade him to allow me access but only once the office staff listed the locations of each person. That's where it came to a grinding halt. The lady's said the list would take a long time to work and I would have to return at a later date. I returned approximately 2 weeks later and was told that they hadn't even started working on the list so I left and kept calling back every other week, then every other month then stopped.

Here's the plan: Give me the name of any and all people you believe you are related too and I'll start this back up and hopefully have success. Send me an email with as much details of each person as possible so I can return with a more urgent mission. Submit a photo request for each person so I will also be armed with additional information to show.

I can only hope that Mr. Chun remembers me and allows access. Please send your information to nascar0u81@gmail.com

RE: wilbur allen at chapel of the pines, california
Dear Kathleen,
I was only there once - called for an appointment and the woman was late - she said she was at the airport. They are no longer an active crematory - however, you can only get access via appointment when the secretary is there.
Other than the phone, I have no idea how to get information from them. It's a shame they're not responding. Maybe you should post a request in the Forums asking for more information about the Chapel of the Pines.

RE: William Wells
Hi Kathleen,

I don't know anything special about this William Wells, I used a date calculator, based on the age in years days and months listed on the headstone.

You can find it here:
http://www.timeanddate.com/date/durationresult.html?m1=8&d1=12&y1=1797&m2=2&d2=7&y2=1877&ti=on

8/12/1797 is 79 years 5 months and 27 days before the death date of 2/7/1877.

That's all.
