I can't thank you enough for finding my grandmother's grave. I had no idea she was resting in this cemetery or I could have found her site a few years ago when I was in OK. Have never seen her name with 2 n's, but someone told me years ago that there is almost always a minor mistake of some sort on the headstone.
I really appreciate your work more than I can say.
While in OK, my cousins took me to 2 different cemeteries where I took a number of pictures to remember some of my relatives.

RE: Photo of Nettie Weaver Carr grave
Susan, thank you so much for the photo! Wow it must have been hard to find! I am kin to her on my Dad's side of family............but I was reading your bio! Wonderful words you wrote. I noticed Dustin OK is some of your kin. Do you know where Stuart OK is? It is in Hughes Co OK about 45 miles south of Dustin. I am kin to most everybody at Pryor Cemetery just outside of Stuart i.e. surnames Randolph, Wooley, Scarbrough. Who knows we might connect somewhere along the way. Thank you for your service as a teacher. I could not do that in this day in time. Feel free to stay in touch. I am from Fort Smith but currently live in Branson, MO.

RE: Melissa Swafford
I've just worked it out... Thomas & Melissa are our G-G-Grandparents. Our G-Grandmothers, Mary and Sarah, are sisters. Our grandparents, Bill Toney and ??, would be 1st Cousins. Our parents, Fran and Phillip, are 2nd cousins. That makes you and me 3rd cousins. :)

RE: Melissa J. Swafford
You are welcome. I get to Oklahoma about every other year or so, as it is the home of both my parents, and many of my ancestral line. I have been conducting research nearly 40 years. I have collected many records, but it takes a while to post it all. Glad to help you out.

RE: Melissa J. Swafford
Dear Susan (or shall I say cousin?!),

Thank you for contacting me. I can't remember now the exact breadcrumb trail I followed to find Mellisa's grave but I vaguely recall combing several lists of graves until I found her name and everything matched up to my other research. Melissa is my maternal GG Grandmother through her daughter Sarah Matilda Swafford Toney (I think you must be descended from one of Sarah's siblings). My Grandfather was William Taft Toney (he and his twin brother Teddy were Sarah's only children - she died when they were quite young). I had a beast of a time finding Sarah and Melissa's graves and linking them to their husbands' graves as in both cases they died at different times and places.

I would be happy to transfer management of Melissa's grave listing to you but I'm not sure how. Any tips??

Kind regards,

Thank you!
Thank you Susan for posting a photo of Melissa's grave. What a wonderful discovery to make between us! :)

I have sat on that Swafford grave information about 13 years and finally decided to post it. The Hall Cemetery is located in the Hill community near Cameron but originally the area was called by the Indian name of Kully Chaha. A search of Kully Chaha will provide more data for you. You might also search Fort Towson for details. If it is still available, a book entitled something like "And Still the Waters Run" by Angie Debo may help you discover more about Oklahoma History and Indian heritage, and the struggle endured.

RE: family
reading your message I got the impression that Edna Phillips was your great aunt. please excuse me if I am wrong. if I am right Doris Popejoy Ruth Miller is my mother the daughter of Beatrice Phillips who is the daughter of Rhodie and Edna Phillips. that would make us first or second cousins.

made a mistake and said Edna was married to John. She was married to Rhodie son of John Phillips. Rhodie and Edna are Beatrice's parents making them my great grandparents. Tom Phillips lived in Okmulgee with Beatrice (Little Granny)until his passing the two of them are buried in the Okmulgee Cemetery. this cemetery has no information on Find a Grave until I get out there and take photos. Tom (Archie) is buried in the veterans circle.

These are duplicates for my great-uncle Jim's older brother. Could you please combine them into one memorial so it is less confusing? I entered Cleve's birth and death info on the one with his full name. Would appreciate it so much!

Transfer request
Hi, Susan! First, I'd like to thank you for all the hard work you've put into archiving, it has made some of my work a lot easier!

I was wondering if you'd so kindly transfer my great-great grandmother Bertha F. Bullard (95754157) to me.

If you so wish, I'd also like a transfer for her son Clyde (95754188) and second husband Robert (95754217) to me.
