MT, you've place the info exactly as I think it should be on William's memorial. It's good to show more info about him. Thank YOU!

|Becky Feaster||Alexander Stephens will?|
I see that you maintain the memorial for Alexander Stephens (Find A Grave #96153572). Looked a the book you mentioned that has a line about the will. Have you seen the will? Or do you know where the original might be kept (part of Alexander Hamilton Stephen's papers)? Alexander is my 6th g-grandfather.

Ok, will dated Nov 1813 suggests that, being alive when it was written, he died in Mar 1814. I missed the Nov part when I read it the first time. I agree with your conclusion now. Thanks- John

Your conclusion about the death date of Alexander Stephens seems counterintuitive. Should it be 1813?

I was actually surprised I found her using fasmilysearch.org, I put in a photo request but if not filled in a couple days I'll go get it, I live an hour and 1/2 away from Taylor Co FL. I haven't had much luck with obits in Florida though. Shady Grove is a rinky dink tiny town but maybe they winded up there because of the railroad???? Cat

Wow, thank you kindly for the wonderful photos you added!! A few questions, do you know what that stuff is laying on top of the square monument? And is there only the inscription on that one side of it and no actual name on it at all? If you are also related, do you know if family members still live on the property it's on? I am so thankful to you for helping me see this better! Teresa

I went earlier today to try and locate this marker. I was not successful, I walk the entire cemetery including the graves behind the main church. I spoke with a Mr. Wilson that use to maintain the records, that he has passed those to a Mr. Dowd (sp). He said he did not remember the name right off and he is married to a Vinson himself. I will contact the church office and see if I can get contact information for Mr. Dowd. Mr. Wilson wondered if maybe he was in the older portion of the cemetery that was behind the church building. Many graves there were marked at one time with wooden markers which have of course disappeared with time.
I will let you know if I find anything out of course.

Oh, okay I am a relative too, although distant his obit ran 9/3/1919 in the Macon Telegraph. I also sent corrections to the Shine/Shines and they have been processed I know for a while she wasn't active or something. They have been processed. I am related through his daughter Mattie Lee Vinson Skipper. I'll go ahead and just add my info to ancestry, I like doing my own research too :) Cat

Thank you for the photo and memorial you provided, can you please give me some more information about this location? Is it now located on private property and were you able to access inside the fenced area? I know that he was buried on the property he owned at that time and I received another photo I just added from a relative and the old marker can be seen in the background with what appears to be the broken off top leaning against the fence, do you have any close up photos of it please? I am wondering if any writing is on the base or top at all? Thanks for your help! :) Teresa

Since there is only one memorial listed for this cemetery, I assume you created the cemetery.
Could you please describe the exact location of the cemetery on the cemetery page - how to drive to it's location.

Hi M.T. Researcher. I apologize for the incorrect dob on Mr. Ray. You are right, he did pass in 1862. What I meant to enter for his dob was 8/8/1822. I apologize for the inconvenience.
