RE: Robert Blackburn
De Wayne, Yes, I had family in Shepeardsville. I have a great aunt and uncle buried in the cemetery and my grandfather Blackburn and my great grandfather Chunn. I don't know if I still have relatives there but I do have them in Clinton and all over Terre Haute. Your g grandmother Balcketer sure sounds familiar.
Did you know that after 30 days with not update of a memorial you can send the information to Find A Grave and they will place it on the memorial. The person that made the memorial may have passed and Find A Grave doesn't know it yet. I have had to send things like that before to get it put on memorials. I love to go graving when I can and I try to do a lot of graves. I have about 120 names in my computer to put on Find A Grave, but I have been so busy with CHRISTMAS and I've been really sick for the last two months. I've been on antibiotics six times in the last two to three months. I also Quilt and have been trying to get them all done for Christmas with being sick was really hard.
I also have Whitesells in my family from that area and the Whites and Barcus etc. All from around Clinton, Universal, Shepardsville, and Terre Haute. Joanne

RE: Robert Blackburn
Do you remember a girl name Pat Gibbons? We went to school with her and I found out I was related to her. Her family is from Vigo County. My Great grandmother's brothers daughter was her great grandmother. We have been in touch quite a few times over our families. Are you related to Dan Grant that was in the class of 1969? Joanne

RE: Robert Blackburn
I graduated from East Gary Edison in 1970. We moved from Glen Park to East Gary when I was 7 I think. We lived on Vermillion St and I went to East Side School that is now Carl J. Polk. My gg grandfather lived in Shepardville. His name was William R. Chunn the son of Major John Thomas Chunn that was awarded land in Vermillion Co. after his military service. Major Chunn was the commander of Fort Harrison at one time and Fort Detroit befor that. I still have family in Lake Station and Portage. I have a lot of family buried in Valpo too. Maybe we know each other. I worked at the Glasshouse on the Toll Road for years when I was in high school. Let me know. Joanne

RE: Robert Blackburn
De Wayne, I'm sorry, I thought from your message that you lived near Shepard's Cememtery or in the Vigo/Vermillion/Parke County area. I grew up in Northwest Indiana. My father was born in Porter County and we lived, most of my young life, in Glen Park and East Gary, both in Lake County. My fathers family is from the Vermillion/Vigo County area. I had planned to come to Indiana this spring so I will try to find my grandfathers grave while I am there. Thank you again. Joanne

Next time you are at Shepards Cemetery would you look for a headstone for James Robert Blackburn b. 1846 and d. 8 Sep 1911. He also went by Robert James Blackburn. It would be in the old part of the cememtery. The part that is south of the post office. I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Joanne

William David Hess
De Wayne, I have added all the information you sent me. I would be happy to transfer William to you as I am not related that I can prove. I have alot of family in the same area and some buried in Shepard's Cememtery. If you ever run across any Blackburns or Chunns let me know. Thank you very much. Joanne
