RE: Vogt
How do you say the name "Vogt?" Is it like "Vote" or "Vot?"

Rose Warady
Hi AC Stone,

Since Rose's memorial was transferred to you, I think you have a connection to her.

So I want to let you know that I added a photo of her to her memorial:

The caption contains a link to her naturalization documents.

Czechoslovakia no longer exists, and the names of towns of birth for Rose and her husband Milton were not correctly spelled in those documents. So I can't even determine which country in existence today was the location of either of their births. I did find and submit Rose's place of death location. I found that on

I have no connection to Rose, I just find things online and pass them on :)

RE: spiro
that"s great to hear!! There are a few more spiro's in this cemetery, but i don't know if it's just a coincidence or if they are related. I know i have judith's plot number written down but haven't been able to get it. The last time i went there was a funeral taking place in that area so i wasn't able to get it. hopefully this sunday i will be able to retrieve it. The name changes are def a big thing. I think with all cultures. I know for my family we had to double check that our last name wasn't a town in italy. Apparently when you came to america through ellis island from italy they couldn't understand you so they changed your last name to the town that you came from. crazy! Well anyway have a great time when you meet your family.

RE: Rittenberg
My pleasure. I happened to be in the area and the office was very helpful and directed me straight away. I recently made a request for pictures in the Clarksville, AR area on Findagrave and had that request filled almost immediately so I can appreciate how you feel.

RE: Question
AC; Lakeside Memorial is about a half hour away and I am in the area regularly so I will try to stop by and see if I can locate these for you. I see you have a request in for the Rittenbergs; I will let you know when I have the photographs.

RE: Altman's
yes, we actually have a really nice headstone project. You can look up most of the area cemeteries and the pictures are listed by alphabetical order and those that aren't in that order are by cemetery. That;s where I get the pictures. I got permission from the webmaster to place the pictures into the find a grave requests.

The web address is

RE: Ronay-Hopwood Jewish Cemetery
Take a look at this:
Link included to the WV site may help you.
If you look at F.A.G. Ronay profiles listed for Hebrew Cemetery Assoc Burial Grounds, all but Rose were added by a Rebekah Billings. Her profile says she is located in Kansas City. Wondering if she visited the cemetery in Fayette Cty or got a list online? You could send her a note. Found a phone number for the cemetery records: 724/437-5481. I have an membership if there is anything in particular you want me to try to find. Also, Google News Archives is helpful:,4936949&dq=alexander-ronay&hl=en
It is interesting that you have a Belmont County Ohio & Fairmont WV connections as my Pittsburgh family has connections to those two places as well. I guess a lot of industry tied to SW PA.

No I do not have a connection to the name Ronay. Thanks for asking, though. You never know. Best wishes, Lynn

Find A Grave Memorial# 101677893. Can you please attach James Mathew Schollmeyer to Father Caral Schollmeyer and Mother Wilhelmia Vogt?
Thanks, HN

RE: Schollmeyers
I am related to Louisa's bother James M. Schollmeyer and wife Bertha C. Doerner. I understand he is the only sibling who moved away as a young man and settled in Dickinson, Stark Co., ND.

Yes I have the family cookbook. I have been doing genealogy on the family for several years. If you are interested in exchanging more family information I would love to do that. HN

It was a long time coming but Spring is finally here. I think I messed up - I forgot Louis Bard. I had a long list of winter requests and he slipped through the cracks. I'll get him the next time I am at Waldheim (probably next Sunday). Thank you for asking about the dogs. Unfortunately I lost my little Lucy last month. She was only sick for one week - I wrote about her on my blog if you would like to read it:

Enjoy your trip and keep in touch!

RE: Photos
I'm so glad the photos you recieved were helpful in your search for data on your ancesters. The PERKINS headstones are in marvelous condition. The entire PERKINS family (Side by Side) is about 20 feet long. I certainly would have liked to provide a view of all the stones in a row but being limited to 300 mg in sending the photos prevents that.

Best Regards

Ed Dehn

Glad I have been helpful to you. I will take closeup shots of the photos on the second group of Finkelstein graves the next time I am at Waldheim and post them to the memorial pages. Happy hunting!

Re: Curry (unknown - unknown)
AC, This morning I received a Find A Grave request for the above individual. I am going to have to put this one on the back burner, as right now we have 15 to 20 inches of snow on the ground so... I am very interested in seeing if I can find this headstone, but do to the fact that 100% of these stones have been weathering since 1888 (when the cemetery was closed) this may prove to be impossible. I am assuming that Curry is the first name, can you tell me anything else, date of death and burial, etc. etc. About 5 years ago, all of the stones in this cemetery were removed for cleaning and they were all reset, so that too might enter into the mix, i.e, how they were cleaned and how much the process added to the stones deterioration. There is also another issue. This cemetery was ignored for a long time. It's location in Sault Ste. Marie is on the top of Ashmun Street Hill and there was/is a steep drop off on the backside of the cemetery. It is my understanding that there were several graves that were washed away over the years (because of the extreme wx we get here at times) off the backside and those graves were reinterred in Riverside Cemetery also in the Sault. Whether or not the records, etc. were kept current, if in deed this did happen, I do not know. I will do my best when spring breaks and I can find the time to do this for you. Because of the wx up here, my to do list is quite long and there are about 10 requests ahead of you. And like everyone that volunteers, there is only so much time. -mld-
