Thank you so much for the photo of William F. Gardner's Grave. He is the husband of my great grand Aunt Beulah McHenry-Gardner. I appreciate your efforts and kindness in helping all of us who are looking for our ancestors. I too, fell in love with this site and have been helped by many thoughtful volunteers. I hope that the memorials I have added are helpful to others.
Thanks again for the quality Photo.

|Leslie Vaughn||Almshouse Cemetery|
Barbara, thank you so much for the link with the Almshouse story. I so much appreciate the time you took to do this for me. It was emotional to read and to think how hard life was for someone who spent their last years in the "poor house" and then be buried in an unmarked forgotten grave. My 2nd great-grand aunt (who I only know about through research) Phoebe McCombs Hill had no children per the 1900 census record. Her husband died and she had no one to care for her and her only choice must have been to fall back on the Almshouse. Her death certificate was full of "don't know" She died at age 81, a widow, of lumbar pneumonia. The doctor had not seen her until the day of her death. Then she put in a pauper's grave. She was forgotten even before she died. Thank you, Thank you, for sharing the information that helps me understand how she must have lived.

Thanks Barbara for pointing out that there are two memorials to Phoebe Hill in the Old Almshouse Cemetery. One has pictures of what looks like a Columbarium with various names on it, including Phoebe's. It does look like the names are all in the same font and actually looks like they are photo-shopped onto the picture. Have you seen this place? Does it actually look like this? It is a sad looking picture. But if it is the Almshouse Cemetery, it sounds like those who were buried there were poor and had no assets to pay for markers, etc.

|Linda Proudler||RE: Temple|
Ok! I've dealt with a few of the Temples there, before. Let me see what I can find out and then I will let you know. There have been times in my questions, that this group has been tight-lipped with information and other times, quite helpful. Let me see what I can do. This coming week, I shall call and get back to you! I appreciate your help. I know one of the Jewish Cemetery's is only open a few days or maybe even 1 day a week or used to be. Thank you, Barb!

|Mike Gillett||RE: Franz Wachter|
If this helps, I do know that Franz Peter Wachter's wife Franziska (Sittinger) Wachter is buried in Trinity (Sec. C, Lot 26). A small stone without dates, 6 rows from Penisula Drive, 11 stones from West Lake Rd. I believe son Frederick (1859-1907) is next to hers. Perhaps Franz Peter is buried elsewhere - either in this cemetery or in another. Or just has no stone...
Thanks for your kind attention. Happy New Year!

Dear Ms. Babara Goggin Brann,
Thank you so very much for getting the picture of Mariette C. Smith's gravestone! She was my great-grea-great grandmother. It was a special Christmas present!

I am a descendent of Harriet Brann Dobson and noticed you had added some pictures of her and her parents. I was just wondering if you had any other genealogical information about this family besides what is posted on this website.
Thanks so much!!!
