RE: Union Cem, Hardin Co
I photographed everything in Iowa Falls Union in the summer of 2014 and have posted everything I could read that was not already posted. I found six Gummerts. There also is a transcription online at Iowageweb.org/hardin done in the 1990s from observation and from old (incomplete) cemetery records that has the same six plus a Mrs. James Gummert, no dates and no marker. That transcription also indicates there is no marker for Fred, but his grave currently has a temporary funeral home marker that could be of recent origin. This cemetery has a lot of those temporary markers. It also has a fair number of old graves with unreadable markers.

The large monument you refer to is no doubt the dominating obelisk in the center of the cemetery, with the surname Hatch on one side and Wisner on the other. The connection between the families is Julia Hatch Wisner, daughter of Moses Hatch and wife of Lyman Wisner. Other contributors have provided quite a bit of information on Moses and Lyman. I think I have a better photo of this monument than what has been posted if you want it--might take me awhile to find it.

Iowa Falls has two other cemeteries, North Lawn Memory Gardens (actually south of town), founded after World War II as a private enterprise (I think), with about 800 graves that appear to have all been recorded on Find A Grave but not many photographed; and Friends Cemetery, an old Quaker cemetery on the east side of town that is still accepting burials. There are about 200 graves recorded there, and could be twice that many or more that have not been recorded. On my to-do list someday. There are a total of 52 cemeteries in Hardin County, most quite small, and in various degrees of Find A Grave coverage. If your families were primarily farmers, they might be in some of the smaller cemeteries and may not have been recorded yet.

Hope this helps. Good luck in your search.

The family I am working on right now are my Grandmother's Thaxton family. The Thaxton's in Illinois are not in my direct line but they went west when my family went south, I think. I discovered some time ago that just documenting your direct line can sometimes leave gaps so I document enough to help me keep the branches straight. Thank you for letting me use the photographs. They give a starting place for dates, places and even names. Becky

You may want to remove your candycane flowers message from his memorial. Another Find A Grave volunteer found and photographed his gravestone.
Thanks for your help.

Milton and Henrietta Copley
Thank you for the info you discovered about Milton and Henrietta Copley buried at Alton Cemetery. I made a photo request and back in December you made a note that their graves were unmarked and you indicated the locations of their graves. I very much appreciate the time you took to investigate this for me. They are ancestors of mine. Perhaps some day I could find out how to get the graves marked. Thanks again. You do important work!

Jess

Harry Harlow death certificate
You requested a copy of his death certificate showing that he is buried in Upper Alton Cemetery. Since you have no email address and you don't know how to access the Missouri digital death certificate data base, I am at a loss as to what to do next.
