I am sad to have to post that my good friend Robert Knoop who's page this is passed away a couple of months ago. Before he became ill and stopped driving I know he spent a lot of time on the internet and at local cemeteries helping a lot of people. I hope he touched whoever reads this in some small way.

Hi Robert,

Are you related to the Crehan family. I have made the updates you requested. If you are family, I do not have an issue with transferring them to you. I am not related to them.

Please let me know.

RE: Craig Colony Memorial Cemetery
Hi Robert....

I hope the person you found is a relative. Always nice to hear that someone found a relative or someone of importance who's buried there. This cemetery was for the patients who lived and died at Craig Colony which was originally an institution for people who had Epilespy. Later on it became more of a mental hospital or institution for the mentally handicapped. There is also an older cemetery located in a wooded area for the very 1st patients(also known as "inmates") That particular cemetery has only metal markers with numbers. Very sad statement on the value these people's lives were to society.

There was a fellow who had some basic info on the people buried at the newer cemetery. He could give me dates of birth and death although he legally shouldn't have because the records are locked up in Albany. Unfortunatly this fellow passed away last summer so i can no longer get dates from him......

If you were able to prove how you're related there is a slim chance that you might be able to gain access to some of the basic info. There's a lady i know who ws able to do this. She explained what she did on her findagrave page.....I'll give you the link.

You can also check the census records for Craig Colony. It's located in Livingston County. Town of Groveland. I was able to match up a bunch of people with those records. Basics like dates of birth and death. Nothing much more than that....

Here is that link for you. I'm sure that you could write to her as well and maybe she can give you more info on how she did it.....

I truely DO wish i could help you more. I've had many people write me and ask the same question as you and i've sadly been unable to help.....

Just cut and paste..If you have trouble with this her name is Diane Miller and her member # is

Good luck and let me know how you do......

RE: Virginia D. Buck Tusen
No, I'm sorry to say I didn't know Virginia; it would have been fun to watch the Sox games with her I'm sure. What most likely occurred is that I was chasing down some distant relatives around that area and probably came across her obituary in the process.

Would you like to take over management of her page? If so, please use the EDIT tab to ask for a transfer.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.

Hi Robert.....

I transferred Catherine's memorial to you. I see i had an extra picture on there and i removed it.
(makes me wonder how many other errors i may have made down the line)

I enjoyed reading your profile. My thoughts exactly!

Take care....

Hi Robert
Can you give me a little more info on John, I was at the cemetery today but did not find any Knoops. Maybe a death year will help and I can visit the clerks office for their help.

Robert, Thanks for making my day. His daughter and I were great friends and we spent much time searching for a picture of her dad's marker. She passed away this Febuary and I continued on alone. Keep up the great work. Welome to the wonderful of "graving", Leo

Your virtual cemetery for your family looks great! I like the pictures especially. I have alot of pictures of my ancestors that i've put on. Not too old but old enough. I'm very proviledged to have these pictures and hope that others will enjoy them. I'm hoping that other family members who have been scattered by time will find them. It would be great to hear from some of them too! I've had a few contacts this way and have made lots of friends. This is a great sight. The more you work on it, the more you'll become addicted! I enjoyed reading your profile as well. Everything is very well put.....

Take care and have fun.....
