Hi Bobby-
Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. Autumn is in full bloom here and yard work seems to be taking up a lot of my free time. I think Sophia was originally interred in Eastern and when George and Sophia lost a few other children in infancy, I think they relocated Sophia (daughter) to Cave Hill because the lots were larger and other family members were there as well. I have another family member that did that in Maine (The Wymans). Apparently they remove the remains, but leave the gravestones sometimes. I always enjoy hearing from you. Reviewing burial journals is no easy task! I hope you are doing well and are having a good weekend.

Talk to you soon-
Susan

Thank you ... I am also a veteran. I did not know my Uncle was in the Air Force and Vietnam, though! Only a photo of his stone told me that story!

I understand your frustration with the people on this site who are "headhunters". Why does it have to be about numbers anyway?

I have no familial relationship to Henry Ottman but found this information while surfing the Courier-Journal newspaper looking for someone else. He intriqued me so I did some additional looking and that's what all the info on findagrave is about.

I grew up in the Highlands of Louisville and would do lots of walking in the 60's aa a kid. One day I was cutting through Eastern and, looking down, found a human femur (I had wanted to be an archaeologist and had just taken Anatomy in HighSchool), I was shocked but didn't know what to do about it so, being a kid I just put it out of my mind and then years later read all that nastiness that had happened at Eastern and I thought, Well at least I wasn't crazy. HAH!

Thanks so much for all the work you have put into the Eastern Cemetery. Nice to know someone is talking for the dead.
In case no one has said it- Keep up the good work!
Yours truly
Ann who now lives far from home and wishes she was back in the Highlands.

Holmes L Waford #89358011
Hello,
You added my grandfather, Holmes Waford to Eastern cemetery and even gave the plot, section #, etc... Nobody has been able to find a marker for this burial. Can you please tell me where you got the information from in order to add this memorial?
Thank you so much for your time, I sincerely appreciate it!

Hi, Somehow your John R Miller headstone was added to my memorial: 131641249. Can you please delete it. There must have been a FindAGrave glitch that melded three different actions together: Your photo, someone else's memorial information, and my memorial #. Thanks, Kathy S

Jan Bos from Nijmegen, Holland
1Lt Leonard L. Shapiro
1Lt Leonard L. Shapiro, 2Lt Nathan H. Greenwood, S/Sgt Lawrence E. Rider, S/Sgt George F. Schulze and T/SgtRobert L. Waldrip were on board of their B-25 medium bomber of the 321st Bomb Group, attacking Gerbini airfield (Sicily)in support of operation Husky. It was 5 July 1943, when the plane went on its bomb mission when the plane was hit by Flak crashed, causing an explosion on impact, killing all men.

Their remains could not be identified and they were buried in the temporary American GELA cemetery in Sicily. They were buried in plot-grave I-101-1204 [group burial], after the war their remains were repatriated and buried in grave E-246 of the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Kentucky.

I am writing a mansucript for a possible book about the GELA Cemetery and hope to finish it this year [2014]. I would like to use the picture you took of their grave. Of course you will be credited and notified when the book is finished.

Can I have your permission

thank you

Do you have any other information on Susan Ferguson 73940297? I see in the picture that there is a tombstone next to hers, do you know whose name is on it? I am trying to locate my GG Grandparents markers on here. She was Married to a Bill Riley and had 1 daughter ( maybe more ) named Opal Riley. Any info would be appreciated

RE: re: Martha Childers at Eastern
Thank you Bobby.Right now I don't know if any of the other Childers buried there are related to me at this time but I am working on it. Sorry to hear that your no longer the keeper of Eastern. thank is how I saw you since you have done so much to bring life back into the place and get names and photos. My great great grandmother is buried in the Childers lot ( the one with the tall headstone that says Childers and has 4 sides , she is right next to it but no headstone but now I know why she was buried there but wish there was a stone for her . but the past is the past but I know where she lies and I can visit her and leave flowers .There are quiet a few Childers buried there and I have a feeling they are all related to each other in one way or another . Right now I don't know how far down the line I am going with them.

Thank you for your time my friend
