Mystery of Kate Stambaugh Hewes
Hi Emma . . . I went back into the tree on ancestry that Kate Hewes is in for me and she's not family; I made a tree when researching a Baltimore photographer named James Cummins, and came across her death info. I think I must have things snarled up, but her death cert and other records def put her birth date at 1842. So now I'm not sure she was the wife of Bunting. I've transferred the management of her memorial to you since she's your kin. Good luck with your research!

Edith M. Jenkins Altland
Find A Grave Memorial# 153933529

RE: Maiden name, Jenkins is what is on the stone. I find her in the 1900 U.S. census in Little Britain Township, Lancaster County, Pa. living with her mother Hannah who is listed as a servent residing with Jesse and Margaret Wood. She is listed as 1 month old on June 1, 1900. Her maiden name is further confirmed on the SS Death Applications of the following 4 daughters: Pearl Louise Altland, Bernice Marian Altland , Irene Elizabeth Altland Kauffman, and Fannie Altland Scheuing.

RE: State of birth, the 1940 U.S. census lists her birth state as Maryland. She is living in Little Britain Township with her husband, and 4 daughters.

I hope that this helps your friend in some way.

Best regards,
Tom

William Paisley
The note left on William's Memorial was put up in 2010 and at that point there was no birthdate listed. (I've removed that paragraph) The paragraph I left said: "Son of William Paisley Sr and Elenor "Nellie" McLean, b. 25 Dec 1742 in Philadelphia. Spouse of Deliverance Paine." is in reference to the son of Wm Sr and Elenor McLean.

Emma,

The names of towns & counties don't match up because in order to submit the change I had to use the modern equivalent.

I truly am sorry for sounding so daft in my previous email, but I only list females by their maiden name, that was why I was unable to find her.

RE: DINAH WILSON DATES
Emma,

I apologize if I sound like an idiot, but can you provide me with more details about Dinah Wilson? The only Dinah Wilson I have in my records was the child of David Wilson and Grace Stackhouse. She was born in Middletown, Bucks, PA, 16 Oct 1731 according to 2 different Quaker records and is considered to have died within her first year as there are no further records of her. Given that this is this is the only info I have of her, I can't see myself updating anything other than her birth information. Again, I apologize, I don't specifically recall submitting the update and I sometimes have short term memory issues. If I have answered your question, great! If not, please, do contact me with more details.

RE: Joseph A. Fuhrman
No, it was a mention (I don't have it in front of me at the moment) like "W.H. Fuhrman has received word of his brother Joe's death near Quincy, Illinois." Census shows that Walter and Joseph D were sons, but I can't find the family in 1900 to see if there were other children. There are references in the Quincy paper to Henry Fuhrman's son, Bryan, spending time at his uncle Joe Fuhrman's house, which reinforces the link to Dietterich and Sophia.

Is there a death certificate for Emma Estella to see who her parents were?

RE: Joseph A. Fuhrmann, Son of ?
My source for Joseph A. being the son of Dietterich and Sophia is that his death was reported in the Iola, Kansas, Register newspaper and mentioning his Kansas siblings. Joseph's parents both died when he was a boy, so that could explain why his next of kin didn't know his father's name when he died 50 years later. His brother Henry also lived in the Quincy area.

RE: Hewlett House @ Bethpage
There is a website or two that mistakenly have the date built for the Hewlett house as the 1890's but the house was built in the 1790's. Must be a typo.

John Ross Dob at Faggs Manor
A few years back a nice lady in the office at the church copied an old transcript they had. I transcribed from that list.
And have walked the cemetery many times.
My sister lives around the corner from Faggs Manor.
Neither the office or myself know how accurate the info is or was. It's what the reference when people ask about the d section. Many of the old headstones are broken, fallen over.
And a couple years ago they had many of the old trees fall during a storm. The maintenance is hitter or miss.
All volunteer. I still have the list if you want a copy.

Have you ever tried Heritage Quest? You can access it by entering your Lancaster County library card number. They have many books on-line for genealogy. Here is a link: http://online.lancasterlibraries.org/

I don't know anything about the silver plating industry in Lancaster County.

Best to you.
