|Jeanne||RE: Hey there!|
Hi! So very nice to hear from you. What a great surprise. I am currently living in Antigua, Guatemala. I have been in and out of here for 18 years with a medical surgical/surgical team. Just felt like God wanted me here, so here I am.
How about you? What is new in your life? Hope all is well. Please, keep in touch! :-)

Hello. My name is Mark Solis. I went to high school with Chris and learned of his passing early last year. But, I have been unable to find out how he passed. I've sent messages to others to learn, but have gotten no reply.
I see that you have posted pictures of him recently, and am wondering if you could give me any additional information.

I don't do Facebook, but send me an email at Kristin.Huff@bp.com (It is my work email and has all the necessary security). Then I will email you back with my personal email. I look forward to corresponding with you.

My name is Kristin Huff and came across this site and you while doing Ancestry research. I am the granddaughter of Alfred Kowald. I'm not quite sure, but I think we are "connected" via Willie Kowald (my great grandfather). This is the first time I have been to this site and I'm not sure if private messaging is available, but i would love to share info/pics/history with you.

I attempted to send you the Mayberry photos. Please let me know if you do not get them.
Have a great weekend!

....ALSO, i noticed that James' birthday on the stone does NOT match the date on Find-A-Grave.

Hi V., Today I visited the Highland cemetery and photographed James' stone for you. I have added the one photo to his memorial, but only one photo was allowed due to photo limits per memorial. I have a photo of his and Lois' stone, and another picture of their marriage date, which was also listed on the stone. if you'd like, i can email these to you and you can perhaps later add to his memorial when you'd like... or at least to have in your possession. ALSO, if there are any others in the Kaufman county area that i can help with, please feel free to ask. Have a great week!

have not forgotten you, or the photo i've promised. it's just been raining, raining, raining in this area ALL week long! and wouldn't you know it... during spring break. hopefully we'll get a break from the weather next week and i can see if the stone is "photographable", or requires some drying out. have a great weekend!

I very much remember your grandparents stone, and even still remember it's location. When we had a rainy period in the area, your grandfather's portion of the stone became covered in dirt/mud. I carry a soft plastic scrapper in my car and it took me a couple of visits to scrape it clear. It was then that i realized his marker does not have a "passing" date listed on it, only his date of birth. That being the case, I did not photograph it, assuming he was still living. When there is a surviving spouse, I do not photograph the entire stone as i do not want to "advertise" any survivor (my concern with privacy).
However, on Find-A-Grave it lists his passing as 1991. I can go ahead and add the photo to his memorial for you, since you are requesting it. It is possible I MAY have a photo in my files and will check and see. If i do not, i will return to cemetery and photo the entirety for you.
Whichever the case, I will message you when I get it posted. :)

Thanks for the info! I've updated his page. Would you be able to obtain more info...like birth month, birth and death place, obituary, etc? I like my memorials to be as complete as possible. THANKS!

Thank you dear cousin. Through which of their children do you descend?

Amen. To vilify those honored dead and their flag takes away their courage and sacrifice. This is part of our history. The screamers don't have to like it, but they have to deal with it. History teaches us. The lessons learned will prevent us from making the same mistakes. You can't know where you are going if you don't know where you have been.

If you come up with any thing, let me know. I am usually in Victoria once a month.
No matter what is on the news, I am from the Deep South and I support keeping the Stars and Bars. Slavery is never right, but there is a lot more to the South than that. I salute Andreas and call him a Brother in Uniform.

If you have any names of relatives that may be with or near Andreas, let me know. There was no listing for any one named "Kowald."

|Jeanne||RE: Hello Jeanne|
I was in Victoria today. The cemetery Andreas is in is located in the historical part of town. It is a beautiful part and a beautiful cemetery as well. No office. The short answer is, no luck. The longer answer is much longer.
The City took over the historical cemeteries back in the '80s. The park service has taken a lot of that job over. The park service has two data bases, theirs and the City's. I suppose folks walked the cemeteries and wrote who is buried there and what other info was on the stone. The park service also has another source of info as well, but we struck out in all three places. This doesn't necessarily mean that Andreas (SP?) isn't at Evergreen, it means that he may not have a marker.
I am so sorry. I hoped to give you good news. The good news is that he left his mark on the wall; you and your family. The best news is that even though I didn't find him, God knows where is is.
