Carolann Arthur
Capt. Ambrose ARTHUR, Smith Cemetery, Knox Co., KY
Hi, Nora. I was just browsing through grave listings in Knox Co., KY and came across the listing for Capt. Ambrose ARTHUR in the Smith Cemetery.

Looking at the stone, it seems he was actually a Captain during the War of 1812 instead of the Civil War (1860-1864)???
Hope you can correct.
Thank you!
Carolann Arthur

RE: Stapleton Cemetery Blackwater, VA
I have not been having much luck finding the Stapleton Family Cemetery. I am going to copy what information I have so far:
This is from an obituary:
Mary Brown Stapleton was buried at Stapleton Cemetery, West Blackwater, Lee County Va. She is buried diagonaly across from her husband William Stapleton in the cemetery.

Here is a link that may be helpful:

Here is the address for the Lee County Historical & Genealogical Society:
PO Box 231
Jonesville, VA 24263
or the e-mail:

I hope this helps. I will continue to search and let you know if I find out anything else.

Best of Luck! Pat Janik

I took the photos in 2008. If you happen to go Friday, could you look for an Eliza Pearsey stone? She is my great, grandmother. I was at Red Hill looking for her stone then, but couldn't find it. I took photos of everything I could get to and read.

Now, I need to figure out how to transfer Molly's memorial to you. I'll do it, but it could take me a couple of days.

I'm glad I was able to supply a photo of your great, grandmother. If you would like to maintain her memorial and possibly add bio or family links, let me know and I will transfer her to you.

RE: Smith Family tree
I have researched my deceased husbands family from Clay Co KY for our son. Since there were so many Smith's in his family that my file has become very large. It is a work in progress so may not be 100% correct. Here is my web page with the info on Letha's family. But it could have some errors. I try to put in the proof if I have it. So just use it as a starting point.
Thanks, Sharon
