I noticed the place of birth differences and name spellings differences. All the census's give AR as place of birth, I believe the census over the obit on the TX reference. I just couldn't believe her obit was in this old scrapbook. LUCKY!

I also found the obit for their son's Henry Skinner's wife, Mary Irene Boykin (who died young) which I originally thought her maiden name was Dickerson bec. her mother's 2nd marriage was to a Dickerson from somewhere near Trousdale. I have not figured him out yet. I figured out the Boykin maiden name from doing research on her sister Alvia Mae Boykin who married a Harkins & later located them in the census. Took me awhile to figure out the Boykin surname. I'll send this one to you via email.

Hope all is going well with you all this Easter holiday. My husband is stuck working in Canada and we won't see him until next week. Thanks for the Lex newspapers you recently sent. Xo Xo Melinda

I saw the question regarding her maiden name being Robinson but I couldn't find the answer. So, It appears on the stone that Robinson is her maiden name and doesn't mention Mantooth...could you tell me where that information came from.

Thank you,
Connie Wallace

Whispering Waters is an area where cremains are interred. There are memorial boulders and the section where Edward is. It's a lovely little garden. I will try to get a photo of the area for you next time I'm there and will email it to you.

Thomas E Warren & wife
Hi Mae,
I've transferred Thomas E Warren to you, as you requested. Did you find a record indicating his wife died in Sumner &/or is buried in Gallatin City cemetery? I couldn't find any. The cemetery has no record, there was no stone recorded in the 1961 walking survey, and I did not find one near Thomas when I photographed his.

Mae Davenport Cox/Waurika Cemetery
To the best of my knowledge, there was only one burial in the Old Waurika Cemetery after the present Waurika Cemetery was opened in 1910. Some of the graves from the old cemetery were moved to the new cemetery when it opened. Any grave in the new cemetery from before 1910 was moved there from the old cemetery.
There is no headstone for William C. Warren in the new Waurika Cemetery. If you know when he died, that should give you some idea of where he was buried. If he died before 1910 he is most likely buried in the Old Waurika Cemetery.
You can visit the old cemetery if you get permission from the owner. That usually isn't a problem if you promise not to open gates, start fires or molest the cattle. It is relatively hard to find. You need good directions, otherwise you can wander around in the pasture for hours and not find it (been there, done that, got the t-shirt).
There is really no need to go there, though. All of the existing headstones in the Old Waurika Cemetery have been photographed and are posted on Find a Grave. Many other headstones have been destroyed and trampled into the ground by the cattle over the years. There are also at least 30 unmarked graves in the old cemetery. Who they were will likely never be known.
If your GGF died in Waurika before 1910, he is most likely buried in the Old Cemetery. If he had a headstone there, it no longer exists.

Requests for Transfer
I received requests from you for transfer of several Upchurch memorials that I've done an extraordinary amount of work on. Please note my profile that says I follow the FindAGrave guidelines which say that any transfer requests should only be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. With that said, I'll be happy to add anything that you would like added. Thanks.

Mae, do you by chance have Ancestry.com? If not I can forward some info to you. I really don't know anything about these Burlisons other than what can be found at Ancestry.com. I noticed that Joseph was born in TN....do you know where in TN? My Burlisons lived in Hardin County TN for awhile.

Mae, I just noticed your question posted on July 13 about this Rose family. Sorry, but I have no info on them at this time. Will search my records to see if I have the names of the parents of John Wesley Rose who was married to my cousin, Ruby Smith.

Please note my change of email address. Happy hunting!

Cheatwood
Dear Mae,
I now understand what you are asking. You are seeking permission to use a photograph that I personally took of Mr. Cheatwood's gravestone and posted on a Find-A-Grave memorial created by someone else. Yes, you have my permission to use the photograph. Best wishes. Nancy
