Westlawn-Hillcrest Vets
We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge #326.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

RE: John Malcolm Patrick
What I sent was a newspaper article I found while researching Josephine County (Oregon) obituaries. The accuracy, of the article, is ONLY as good as the newspaper employees and/or the information provided in 1901. I cannot vouch for the spelling, the information (right or wrong) or the lack there of.
City, no.
Middle name, no.
Parents, I'm not currently researching that family.

RE: Jones
That would be great!! Thanks, I will go to the memorial and request transfers that way to make it easier. Thanks for your work. I just found out I was related to these folks. I live in Mississippi, but was raised in Indiana and a fellow on ancestry had pictures of these folks in Oklahoma who had attended a family reunion in Indiana back in 1930's. Internet is amazing!!!!!

RE: Rachel Barnhard
Thank you for the information about who raised Susan Riddle Hansmire and changing the name on the memorial.
I spoke on the phone with your father and we emailed some about the family history in 2006.
If you go to,type in Ferdinand Riddle and look for the tree put up by MargaretHarke24, you will find all my research information and sources and any notes I might have added.
My email address is if you have any questions.

Rachel Barnhard
Memorial 75994814 for Rachel Barnhard Riddle should read Rachel BARNHART Riddle. The family originally spelled their name Barnhardt, but many of them changed the spelling to Barnhart. Because she died so young, there is little known about her. The rest of her family has been researched fairly well. Her parents were Jacob Barnhart/Barnhardt and Elizabeth "Besty" Carver. There are several family trees posted on and for this family.
Rachel was the sister of my 2nd great grandfather who named one of his daughters Rachel.

Bob, Thank you for adding the info on Nora Merrilees! She is not a relative. My grandfather kept a diary in which he inserted obits for people he knew that lived in Leavenworth, IN. Nora's obit was one of them. I wanted to add her information to Find A Grave. Thank you for your Find A Grave work. The memorial you created for her looks great! Jayne

Thanks Bob, I will contact my mom or one of the family up there as I am in Arkansas myself. As for Janet D. she has not passed away, when my grand mother passed they (SS) got it mixed up and said it was Janet, but she has a plot with granny and pawpa.

I am doing our family history so I try to keep up with all of this stuff.

I will try and get the numbers for you and email you again.

David Ballard
RE: Catherine Ballard
Hi Bob, I myself live in Boulder, and have driven past Lincoln may times in the past 20 years traveling back to Ohio. I had a glitch last night when I wrote, and left off the names of several more possible siblings to Catherine, The are: Andrew; Sarah (Both dead ends) Joseph (Nelly Lloyd), Nancy Ballard Warren; John Ballard Mary Northcutt);Sarah Sally Ballard Acre, and my William. Hard to believe that there were two (and maybe more..)distinct family lines of Ballards living not that far apart, but how to connect? Maybe your aunt will have a revelation...Thanks!

Catherine Ballard
Hi Bob, I have been working on the decendants of William Ballard for a while now, William was born in NC in 1792, and moved with with Mother and Sister (at least) to Martin County about 1820's or so. William sister is Nancy Warren, and she is buried in Stampers Creek Cemetery in Orange Co, next to her mother, Margara (1748-1849. SO, I am wondering if Catherine Ballard Riddle could be a sister to my Willima and Nancy.. Any possible insights? By the way, I have a pretty extensive Find A Grave colection of Ballards in Orange, Martin, and other IN counties.

THanks, David Ballard
