Joel...great minds think alike!
I visited Lake Charles back in April-May, 2005. I was only there for one day having driven over from Port Arthur, Texas (I worked for Texaco and did
3 tours of duty at their refinery in Port Arthur. They were from 1965-70, 1976-78, and 1990-92. So, a drive over to Lake Charles is a 45 minute affair). I went to the Calcasieu Parish Library which had a wealth of information. I found obits for Michael, Catherine and their children. The Baton Rouge diocese records are there too. I also visited the library at McNeese State where I found a photograph of Catherine Broderick and her daughter, Katie. I then visited the Old Catholic Cemetery. It is located in the downtown area of Lake Charles at the intersection of Iris and Common Streets. Most of my references call it the "Old Catholic Cemetery" but I can see that it might be called the Common Street Cemetery since it is located at the corner of Common and Iris Streets. I was met there by a gentlemen whom I had been corresponding with via the internet. His name is Patrick Webb and he heads up a group which is restoring tombs in the old Catholic Cemetery. He is the one who located Michael's headstone from a pile of stones at the cemetery rear and reassembled the pieces so I could photograph it. Patrick advised me that the Catholic Church maintains this closed cemetery but the cost of grass cutting is becoming prohibitive even for this small 1 acre cemetery. He also advised that the city cemetery known as Orange Grove was having the same problems. This is where Catherine and Katie are buried. Patrick advised that maintaining this large cemetery was costing upwards of $2 Million per year. This is why the Church opted to begin removing head stones and above ground tombs from the Old Catholic Cemetery. The cemetery was closed almost 100 years ago and I guess they thought no one would object.
Regarding Catherine Broderick's son, W. H. Broderick, I managed to get a death certificate from Texas. W. H. Broderick died on May 5, 1925 of natural causes. He lived in Houston at 704 Dallas St. in Houston and was buried on May 7th at Holy Cross Cemetery in Houston. I will create a memorial for him but I don't have a picture of him or his grave. A lot of the information about him was taken from letters found in his room after his death by coroner's office people.
I concur with your comments regarding the 17 year old Michael Broderick.

Hey Joel, no problem. I have lots of down time at work and it makes the day go by! Got quite a lengthy email from Mr. Daniel with good information that I'm adding to Find A Grave.

Hey Joel! Yes it was Mr. Daniel and he has already uploaded a picture of Michael's grave to Find A Grave! I asked him this morning if he knew the reason they were buried in two different cemeteries, we'll see what he has to say. I am always interested in finding out things like that. They are not my family; I am in Baton Rouge--I was lucky enough to get some duplicate copies of the Louisiana Historical Register and added to Find A Grave any cemetery information that was included in the issues I had. I see where Mr. Daniel hails from Oregon!! He's probably snow-bound right now!!

Joel, Thank you so much for filling in the blanks for Mary Ellen!! I searched Ancestry and found information on Michael Broderick's grave including a picture!! I created a memorial for him in Old Catholic Cemetery and linked him to Catherine Healy and Mary Ellen Bourg. I have emailed the person who posted the picture on Ancestry to ask if he would be willing to go to Michael's memorial and include the picture. I will let you know if he responds. If he does and is willing to add the photo, he also has personal photos of the family members. I will ask if he would like to add them to the memorials as well.

Thanks so much for the info on Bobbie Holscher's parents. She was my mother in law. She never went into family history with me, and my husband knows practically nothing, so this will mean a great deal. I noticed the second wife for Clint, so this means that my husband has half-cousins out there somewhere . . . .

Hey, I made the additions you suggested and transferred this memorial to you. I just randomly took the picture while I was out there and added it. She is not a family member of mine. If you find any others I have added just let me know I will be happy to transfer them to you.
