RE: Joseph Batton
I do not have any personal knowledge about the stone. I did look in the book "They Are Here" by Elizabeth R. Spencer, and she has listed in the Old Hickory Grove Cemetery a Joseph Lesley Batten, born 11 June 1920, died 19 October 1923. Could that be the person you are looking for?

Leben
Hi Valeri,

"Leben" is quite a common Slovenian surname, a variation of the even more common surname "Leban". There are three theories for its origin as a Slovenian name: 1) Derivation from the first name "Filip" 'Philip', 2) Borrowing from the German surname "Leben", or 3) Derivation from a name root "Leb-". The German surname "Leben" appears concentrated in the north (in North Rhine-Westphalia and in Berlin-Brandenburg), so it's very unlikely that there's any connection between the Lebens in Germany and those in Slovenia.

Best wishes from Slovenia,
Don
