|Peter Lenahan||RE: Section 1 @ St. Mary's|
Section One is a very old section of the cemetery.
I believe the I photographed and recorded every stone in that section. There are a lot of graves without stones in this section. This section is the southernmost section of the cemetery, on a hill, with the eastern edge of the cemetery going up the hill where the New York State Thruway meets the cemetery boundary. The western edge goes down to the sprain brook creek which divides the cemetery.
I am sorry you didn't find the grave you were looking for. There are no more grave stones to photograph here, just grass.

We are thrilled, Jan! Thank you! Are you a relative? I'm curious how you came to notice the double memorials?!

Thank you for sending the complete death date/place/age for Joseph. I have updated his memorial. I also found his birth record so I added his complete birthdate too. Sincerely, Judi

Thanks for directing me to Margaret's earlier memorial. I have contacted ASB and if Margaret is not a relative of hers, I am going to request a transfer to my keeping. Margaret's father and my great-grandmother were (1/2) brother and sister. We had no idea where she was buried....

This is my cousin. Cataumet and Pocasset did not exist When he was born in 1831. I think one incorporated in 1850 and the other in 1855. Often times on Death Certificates or Obits places of birth or even parents names (as in this case) are not 100% correct. That is why it is always more accurate to use Birth records. Even if someone lived in the same home their entire life, if that location became part of a different town in later years their birth location would still be the original town and not the later incorporated town.
Birth records for Sandwich, Massachusetts record his birth as: Israel A. Swift born 28 September 1831 to Nathan B. Swift & Permelia his wife. Found in:Book 4 Town of Sandwich, 1838 Record of Births & Deaths 1836 to 1842 [p. 50]
Also in Sandwich Record of Births and Deaths, 1836 to 1842 found on Ancestry is lists Israel with all his siblings as children of Nathan B. Swift and Permelia.
I have one entire generation of my grandmother and her siblings that all went though life by their middle names. If you do not chose to change it as his name on the memorial, yes that is your choice, but if you could then at least mention it in the bio that would be great.

|ddjohnsonri||RE: Hannah Wheaton|
You're welcome. Had thought William Wheaton d. 1802 might be her husband, but he was lawyer, sheriff of Providence County, and buried next to his wife. Also a couple decades older.
Good luck in all your searches,

Your request has been completed. In addition, I linked William with his wife and children. I did look to find his parents in F.A.G. but didn't find them listed although the obit noted their burial in Middletown also. Marie

Thank you for providing your source. I prefer to let others use their own judgement when dates differ. I always tell people you can't put all your faith in one source because it is only as good as the memories of the ones providing the info, and during times of stress, we all know how poorly that can be. Had I not arrived at the funeral home before the undertaker had filed the newspaper obit, the info my brother-in-law gave for his father would have had the wrong year for Dad Harwood's birth, wrong year he married, and the spelling wrong for his wife's maiden name! Other than that, the info was fine! I have also seen a Bible Record with one date, the obit with another date and the tombstone with a third date. In this case I give more credence to the Bible Record since it was probably recorded the closest to the date. But I put it all in the record page and will let others draw their own conclusion. Thanks. Donna

Could you provide some insight on your difference for the birth date? Tombstone has 1870 and you wish it changed to 1868? Thanks, Donna

I would urge you to check out the Trenton, NJ archives - you can view the death certificate and find any additional information that you seek.
Personally, I don't have additional information and unfortunately in this case, the location of burial was not provided by the newspaper.
Good Luck to you in New Jersey - there is a wealth of information in the New Jersey Archives in Trenton, NJ.
