I just added two memorials for these folks today at East Lawn Cemetery. If you would like to change their burial location on yours, I can add the photos I took to yours and remove my entries. Whatever you would like to do. VV

Thank you! All your work will save me a great deal of time. And I appreciate this so very much. I am related to Jane Todd Patterson Courtney's sister Mary Esther, who stayed behind in Illinois. The extended family search is helping me with another project which is to develop stories from all my ancestors showing how the immigrants came, and through the generations took advantage of realizing the American dream. It is not to publish of course, but rather as a gift to my grandson. God bless you. I may be in touch again if that is OK.

|lhs||Sara Patterson Long b 1881|
This Sara Patterson I believe to be the daughter of William and was born in 1849 so she is the granddaughter, not the daughter. Possibly she was named after Sarah Patterson b 1854, a sister of William James McClelland Patterson. Thought you might wish to know this. Your entries have been very helpful to me as this is my mother's great uncle's family. Thanks so much! We are very excited to put some of these pieces together for my mom who did not meet those that left Illinois.

Thank you so much for the photo. Uncle Johnny was quite a character. He was Scottish heritage and lived up to it. Thank you so much.

I answered my own question. The marker was next to your Charles Atkins wife's marker. I added the stone and deleted the record I made. Sorry to bother you.

I took a photo of Charles Atkins marker in Upper Alton (Oakwood) but don't have any info on the marker other than Spanish American War. Would this be your Charles Atkins? I made a seperate memorial but will transfer if it is yours.

We are both new members. You have been a member for a month longer than I have but I have spent a lot more time on the website. Using it every week is helping me understand how best to use the website. I still don't have all of it figured out, but I have the basics down.

It's possible it wasn't the Fleshmans with the Cherokee connection, but when I get a chance I'll try to dig out the info and send it on.

|Ken Summers||Transfers James and Nancy Fleshman|
Done! BTW, Nancy was sister to my gg-grandmother.
A favor in return, if you can. My family lore said that we have Cherokee in our background, but I can't find it. All I can find is some references to a distant cousin marrying a Cherokee (or maybe a Nez Perce, not really sure). Without pulling out my files to be certain, I remember it was a Fleshman (my info here is only copies of old newspaper clippings). Do you know about any?

Transfers are complete.
I transfered the whole family to make it easier for you to add links. Hope that is OK.
After transfering these I noticed that I had duplicated Phyllis Eastman Courtney.
Both memorials have the same info so you might want to Deleate the one I created.
I am carefull not to duplicate memorials but somehow this one got by me.
Best of luck and let me know if you have other family members.
