RE: Witts
Okay, boy the records were a mess. Not only wrong section, but within the section, wrong grave #s. Ruth sent me photos of the plot diagrams so I could match up pictures to the right graves. I made memorials for those that were missing. If I usurped your intentions, let me know and I can transfer or delete. Going to be out of town for awhile and wanted to straighten this out before I left.

I believe you, but I just wondered where your info is coming from, since it doesn't match what is in the books.

Witts
Well, this is terribly confusing. Using the record transcription, I don't see any Witts in Section 17 - don't even see a lot 311 in Section 17. Did you mean to write Section 7?

In Section 7, lot 311, it shows: Mrs HH (1982 - should be 1882) in #4, Charles C (1918) in #5, Infant of Robert in #1 (1864), Infant (1863) in #5, Miles Jr (1900) in #2, and infant of Claude Young (1860) in #6.

In Section 15, block 229, lot 2: William Byers, C Erwin, Fannie Owens, Mrs PD Witt, Miles F Witt, and Mrs. Mary Witt.

I am guessing that you are looking at the actual plot maps and not the transcription. The two that don't match your list are Mills/Miles (1900) and Charles C. How confident are you that the record transcription is wrong?

In Charles C's obit, Mr and Mrs Paul D Witt are mentioned (She is in Section 15). There is also a Mrs. J. D. Young - relative of the infant Young in Section 7? Also wonder if Horace Witt of the obit might be related to Mrs HH Witt in Section 7. So the families might be related.

Kind of an odd question: I uploaded a photo of the tombstone that is almost identical to yours. I wanted you to look at it, because it almost looks to me as if your picture got distorted - that the stone looks shorter and squatter than it really is - like there was an editing or uploading problem. Maybe I'm imagining it. Let me know what you think. I'll delete my photo after you look, because there's no reason for two almost identical pictures.

Powell/Marshall Oakland Cemetery
Hans,
Many thanks for posting your excellent photos of the headstones in the Powell/Marshall family plot, Historic Oakland Cemetery, of my 2nd great grand uncle, Charles Laurent Powell, his wife, Almedia Marshall Powell, their daughters, Mary Eugenie Powell and Ida Powell Higgins and Almedia's brother, Robert HD Marshall. Wonderful! Thanks, too, for the additional information about Robert Marshall. I have added it to his Find A Grave memorial page. I greatly appreciate your time and valuable contributions to Find A Grave.

Thank you again for your time doing this for me! Now I'm puzzled as to her name, don't know what the V stands for. I was always told her name was Belle Zora. More research...

I want to THANK YOU so much for taking the time to make this photograph for me. Uncle Wm, his wife Belle Zora and his two sons Ulus/Ulysses A. and Wm Iler, and maybe even his daughter Verna Wilson are supposed to be buried in Atlanta. I would never have found this even if I could come out there. You made my day and I got to show my 85 yr old Mother her great-uncles marker. She said THANK YOU also.

You sent me an edit to correct information on his parents. However I don't understand what you are wanting to be corrected? The information on D.F. & A.E. Hammond is what is already there? Please clarify and I will be happy to do it.
Thank You

You recently posted pictures from the graves of Samuel Sater, Rachael Sater, and Lena Bernstein. I would be very interested in any other pictures from the Sater section, should you have any.
My thanks for the ones you posted and any others you might have!

Grave Whisperer
Rebie Massell May Memorial # 85098851
Hi Hans,

Here is what I found about her so far:
GA Deaths 1919-98 and JewishGen Online Worldwide Burial Registry says she died on Aug 19, 1966 and that she was 73 years old.

Using her date of death: 20 Aug 1966 and subtract 73 years at:
http://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadded.html?m1=8&d1=20&y1=1966&type=sub&ay=73&am=&aw=&ad=
It says the date of birth would have been Aug 20 1893. That is because we don't have the months/weeks/days of life to make it a bit more accurate.

I also checked these sources and listed the estimated year of birth:

1930 US census - abt 1894
SSDI - 12 Dec 1890
GA Death Index - abt 1893
NY Passenger List - abt 1894
Jewish Online Burial Index - 12 Dec 1892
1920 US Census - abt 1894
Headstone at Westview Cemetery - Dec. 12, 1892

As you can see, the SSDI is the only source that I have which agrees with the date you provided from the 1900 census. I am not trying to be difficult.

I am saying that many times over the past 30 years or so of research, I have found errors for dates of birth and death on all kinds of sources. When that happens, I try to go with the majority. Since I have seven sources that indicate that she was born closer to 1892 or 93, I feel that I should go with that for now. I will be happy to make a note on her biography that links her to you. Please, if you find any other sources that confirm or deny anything we've discussed, feel free to send it to me and we'll address this again. Thank you for your time and effort.

Rebie Massell May
Hi,

You had submitted the date of birth for Rebie Massell May, Find A Grave Memorial # 85098851 as Dec 12, 1890. I had Dec 12, 1892. Yesterday I added a note on her bio to you about the research I did on her. Today the contributor, Phil, uploaded a headstone photo for her and she was in fact born in 1892. So I wanted to let you know why I declined your edit.
Thanks.

Thanks Hans for creating the bios for William and Eliza Warwick one set of my gg grandparents. You did not have a death date for Eliza. My grandmother knew her and had told me she was the only grandparent she knew, and that she died when she was 17 or 18. My gm was born in 1893 so I guessed 1911, but it could have been 1910 as well.
Thanks,
Gary Joines

Hello! I just wanted to thank you for going to take pictures of my Love ancestors' gravesite at Oakland. It's much appreciated!
