Elisha O. Norville
Noah, I truly applaud you for what you are doing. You are truly a neat teen! Elisha O. Norville is my husband's great great grandfather. I just noticed the birth/death dates on the memorial are 1883/1893. I have that Elisha was born in 1833 and died 1893. In a reply to my request for a death record from the Illinois Records Archives Despository, I had received the following which you may find of interest:
REPLY RE DEATH RECORD REQUEST FROM IRAD (Illinois Regional Archives Depository, Western Illinois Univ.) No death record found; however, copy of excerpt from The Canton Register, Canton, Illinois, (Vol. 9-reel 130) July 28, 1892 - May 10, 1894 was received as follows:
C.R. JAN. 4, 1894 PAGE 6 COL. 4 LONDON MILLS
H.A.NORVAL, RECV'D. A TELEGRAM SAT. MORN. ANNOUNCING THE DEATH OF HIS BRO. ELISHA NORVAL, WHO LIVES IN DALLAS, IL. HARDY STARTED AT ONCE & RETURNED MON. EVE. ON THANKSGIVING DAY. ELISHA MET WITH AN ACCIDENT. ON THUR'S. HE HAD A CRAMP IN HIS STOMACH. THE DR. GAVE HIM SOME MORPHINE & FROM WHICH HE NEVER AWOKE. PAGE 131
Feel free to e-mail me to the address with this Find a Grave account if you have any questions or I can be of help. Again, congratulations on doing a great job.

Elisha O. Norville
Noah: I am adding a correction to the previous message. Elisha Norville had 3 sons. The names were James William, Joseph O. and John Frank. Elisha and Lucy also had 3 daughters, Martha, Emma and Savenna Eldora.

Kenneth (Red Norvo) Norville was a son of Joseph O. Norville. (I have the newspaper clipping from my husband's grandmother that tells of Kenneth Norville. James William Norville was my husband's great grandfather.

Norville child died from Spanish flu
Good evening, Noah. I thought you might be interested in this newspaper clipping. You'll notice that Mr. and Mrs. Henry Norville, and their daughter are mentioned.

Are you related to the Norvilles? Mrs. Henry Norville was the granddaughter of Martha Ann Downs Greenlee, who was the sister of my great great grandfather, so I am related to Ella Blanche Reed Norville Lawyer.

Six Deaths in 40 Hours

Influenza's Toal (sic) is Appalling. Man and Wife Die the Same Day Other Fatalities.

Mrs. George H. Reed and Two Grand-Children Victims of the Malady.

Six corpses in charge of the Roseville undertaker at one time, appalled the people of this community this week, and such a number were never known to be lying dead here at any one time before. The deaths all occurred within a period of forty hours, and each was traceable to the epidemic malady of Spanish influenza that is now sweeping over the country. Four of the deaths occurred in two homes; in one both the husband and wife dying, and in another a grandmother and her infant grandson. Times Citizen

The husband and wife referred to in the foregoing were Mr. and Mrs. Dana Shilling, residing 2 miles northwest of Smithshire, who died on Wednesday, Dec. 4, the former passing away at 1 o'clock and the latter at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon. The grandmother mentioned was Mrs. George H. Reed, nee Maggie Greenlee, who was known to many of our readers. She died at the home of her son Archie in the Colfax neighborhood shortly after noon on Wednesday, December 4, and Max C., the 7 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Reed, soon followed its grandmother, having entered into rest at 2 o'clock Thursday morning, December 5, 1918. Mrs. Reed and her grandson were buried in the Point Pleasant cemetery 7 miles south west of Raritan last Friday afternoon.

Bessie Lucilla, the 4 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Norville of Point Pleasant township, another grand child of Mrs. Reed, died Saturday morning, December 7.
