RE: Archie Garland Gaines
Thanks. Sorry I had the wrong location. Glad you caught it. I had saved newspapers for the Appomattox Times-Virginian for number of years when I subscribed to it and know I'm trying to get all of them on their memorials. Don't know if all of the contributors will add them or not. Thanks so much for adding it. Henry Webber

RE: Ihlendorf correction
You'll notice that Clemens Hellebush, also buried at Calvary Cemetery, is an Ihlendorf descendant if you look at the memorial I have for him.

Thank you for the update. A transfer would be nice. She is the sister of my great grandmother.

Thomas K. Prevatt Photo

Thank you for taking the photo of Thomas K. Prevatt's headstone at the Old City Cemetery in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was my wife's 3rd great grandfather. I appreciate you indicating the plot information on the photo. I was hoping for inscriptions on the headstone. I guess there was no time for that during the Civil War.

Thank you for that link. It is interesting. I have been to that website before for another relative. I have a lot of ancestors from Cincinnati. Were you looking on that website for some of your Martins?

Sad. I agree with you. Having one son die tragically and name the next child after him had to be hard.

Did they list any parents on the death record?

RE: John Markus photo req.
I also wonder if the two Anna Markus records are dups.

Yes the dates are different, but older records sometimes are a bit off. I will try and visit the Cincinnati Library downtown, where I work, and see if they have the cemetery records for the Markus'.

If by chance you have others in the area you need some information, I don't mind passing along what I can find at the library.

You may already know this, but I like to share information. The Kenton County KY library allowed for registration online. You can then use that card number to access their online genealogy material.

Cincinnati has the Williams Cincinnati Directory online. Not sure if you need a card or not to access. I have the 1868 year and there are three Markus records listed.

Mrs Markus, Widow, 12 Buckeye
Mary Markus, Seamstress, bds, 41 Ailanthus
Wm Markus, Lab, 168 Pleasant

If there is some research I can help you with from the library, send me a request via email.

RE: John Markus photo req.

Have you reviewed the Markus' records for this cemetery? Earlier this year, I posted a new record and a photo for Elizabeth Markus, but at the time I did not know the first name. After some research, the headstone was for Elizabeth and the record was already there without a photo. I deleted my photo and posted the picture to the current record.

I just posted another Markus photo to Herman Markus. I believe your request is for a John Herman Markus. Are these a duplicate record??

Mrs. Wagurak, I just wanted to thank you for your time and efforts on helping take pics and do memorials for the dearly departed. I have enjoyed doing this myself since the passing of my mom back in April. I used to work with your husband at Abbott. Tell John that Eddie said hello for me, please. Take care.

You had requested a photo but they found this to be a cremation. Are you closely related? Do you need a transfer? Best Wishes, Lettie

There is only one Colletta in Maria Stein Cemetery 100065445 but I checked Salem Heights (where my precious blood nun relative is buried). There is also a Collette there 86278994. Worth looking up anyway.

Good Luck in your search.

RE: Thanks
Wow! When you mentioned that William H had 3 siblings I thought I might have the wrong Kettler family because we were all under the impression that there were only 2 sisters (Helen and Margrett) so I spent the evening poking around online and sure enough there was another sister, Bonnette, who was 9 in the 1920 census. So I guess I figured out what you already know.

I apologize if I am coming a bit scattered but we (my family) have really only had very sketchy information concerning William H's family and childhood. What I do know is that William Kettler Sr. and his wife Anna's marriage ended when she died in 1927. Sometime after that, William H was sent to live with his sister Margrett and her family. Supposedly, William Sr. remarried but I have no proof of that marriage and no one can remember her name.

At some point, William H cut off all relations with his father and, as far as we know, never saw or spoke to him again. William H married Elizabeth (Betty) and they had two children, Georgia (1942) and William G (1944). William H and Betty divorced sometime around 1946. Georgia and William G resided with their mother, now Betty Robinson, her second husband, Johnny Robinson, and their 5 half-siblings.

William H remarried Katherine (Kay). William H and Kay had one child together, Rick Kettler, and Kay had a daughter from her first marriage, Carol.

Georgia married Ron Woebkenberg and has two children, Jeff (1971) and Brad (1972), as well as 4 step-children that she raised. William G married Rosemary Rhodes and had two children, Angela (1969) and Danielle (1972). Rick Kettler married Patty and they have one daughter.

William H was a difficult and very ambitious man. He owned a successful construction company in Cincinnati (Smith-Kettler Builders, Inc.). My Aunt Georgia actually still lives in a home in Blue Ash built by Smith-Kettler. :)

I hope that fills in our part of the family tree. Just let me know if you think I left anything or anyone out. I have a few older pictures of the family that I can send to you if you would like.

I hate to ask a favor but... You wouldn't happen to have any information about the family in Germany that you would be willing to share?

Thanks again for all your research. I talked to my parents last night and they are so excited. I think we are all going to go down to Cincinnati one afternoon and do a little tour of the family graves!

Hello! Just wanted to say thanks for posting the picture of the Hermann Kettler family on Nora Kettler's memorial. I am a great-great granddaughter of Hermann Kettler (Hermann Kettler - William Kettler - William H Kettler - William G Kettler). We have very few Kettler family photos so it was a nice little find and, even though William is not pictured, I'm sure my Dad is going to be excited to see it. Thank you! Danielle Kettler Henry

Grave Pictures
Hi Patty -

I see that you have requested photos for two Kettlers in Gate of Heaven. By looking at your virtual cemetery to see if there were others, I eventually arrived at your aunt's virtual cemetery. She manages these - and two others, Mary Ellen Kettler Dietrich and Rita Mae Weis. Photos have not been requested for these but I'll get them while I'm there this afternoon and post them.

Thank you so very much for the photo of Chuckie's tombstone. I really appreciate you taking the time to take the photo and adding it to his Memorial. I hadn't seen it as I live in California and haven't been back in few years. He is my nephew.
Thanks so much,
Henry Webber
